Except for the Rockies game, his September was normal for him.For a team that should be expecting themselves to contend going into next season, I’m okay with slotting him in at the back end of the rotation and letting him eat innings. If he can regain anything close to his first half this year, let that be a big time bonus.I just hope they don’t expect or rely on him to be that first half guy moving forward.

5 hours ago5 hr We need about 300 starting pitching innings of at least a decent quality. I don't think we need to have a superstar at the front, though that makes the post season potentially harder. But we HAVE got to get more GOOD innings from the rotation, as it relieves a ton of pressure on the back end of the rotation as well as the bullpen is able to settle into more predictable roles and routines.
1 hour ago1 hr Do any of you foresee bullpen arms being tired for next season based on their usage this year? I am assuming we miss a couple months next year so that might not be an issue, but in the case of a full season?

More than the innings totals, is the heavy loads in a short period of time and short rests.

28 minutes ago28 min Author Maybe they give Vasil the Hagen role? I dunno, can you really expect more than 500 innings combined between Smith, Taylor, Kay? I doubt it. We need someone to eat some innings. Maybe Castillo will pull a miracle and give us 160-170. They aren't going to let his option vest over that.We really need to sign a proven #2 or 3 starter that can project for 180ip around a 3.8 ERA.
