2027 Rotation

Davis Martin had a dominant first two months of the season (11 starts), then was adequate in 5 of his next 10 before he started to stumble. Except for the Rockies game, his September was normal for him.

For a team that should be expecting themselves to contend going into next season, I’m okay with slotting him in at the back end of the rotation and letting him eat innings. If he can regain anything close to his first half this year, let that be a big time bonus.

I just hope they don’t expect or rely on him to be that first half guy moving forward.

Getz will still be hyping Castillo as being in the best shape of his lifetime coming into ST.

I am going to be honest here, 2005 to 2006 is in the back of my head, where we rode our top dogs hard, and then they fell off the next year for the most part. If it were me, I am 100% looking for big

  • People, for some reason, think what the Sox did towards the end of the year was this brand new strategy they will do forever instead of something they had to do because of current personal.

Problem is, so are other teams

but Sox have Mune and japanese players love to go to teams in a big market with another japanese player. their shot at any japanese starters would be higher than most and a huge boost to marketing revenue potential as well.

I would prioritize signing Michael King and rekindle trade talks for Reid Detmers.

I just can’t imagine how much Detmers will cost now. Angels played that perfectly. Bonemer plus for him would be the cost.

Reid Detmers for one of Montgomery's. Who says no?

A King, Burke, Detmers trio is pretty solid. Could Billy Carlson, Kay, and Schultz get Detmers?

Probably the Angels.

What about... two... Montgomerys?

Probably too much to give up for this lower payroll team.

Give me Kaima Taira and Michael King.

We need about 300 starting pitching innings of at least a decent quality. I don't think we need to have a superstar at the front, though that makes the post season potentially harder. But we HAVE got to get more GOOD innings from the rotation, as it relieves a ton of pressure on the back end of the rotation as well as the bullpen is able to settle into more predictable roles and routines.

Do any of you foresee bullpen arms being tired for next season based on their usage this year? I am assuming we miss a couple months next year so that might not be an issue, but in the case of a full season?

Absolutely will happen. More than the innings totals, is the heavy loads in a short period of time and short rests.

Yeah Taylor worries me

Maybe they give Vasil the Hagen role? I dunno, can you really expect more than 500 innings combined between Smith, Taylor, Kay? I doubt it. We need someone to eat some innings. Maybe Castillo will pull a miracle and give us 160-170. They aren't going to let his option vest over that.

We really need to sign a proven #2 or 3 starter that can project for 180ip around a 3.8 ERA.

No Seiya Suzuki?

Not worth paying top dollar for a luxury bat when we need two quality SPs. Bonemer will be our Suzuki eventually.

Make that TWO starting pitchers.

They aren't going to add two more starters unless they are Fedde/Kay/Foster Griffin specials...

Soroka might even be out of their realistic range with Castillo added and Newcomb/Fedde going up in cost.

I'd add Freddy Peralta back to the list of guys I would want. File his first half struggles to "General Mets Usual Shittiness"

Edited by Bob Sacamano

While Peralta will always have the 4.99 ERA stain on his resume from his 22-start Mets tenure, he is already doing a lot of good with the Rays to diminish the impact of his Mets stint on his free agency.

Will Peralta land a nine-figure contract like he might've been seeking this offseason? Probably not, at least not without signing a very long-term deal that has a much lower AAV than pitchers normally would get.

But a strong postseason for Peralta with the Rays, especially if he helps them win the World Series, could have the Tampa Bay starter landing a much more respectable deal this offseason.

3.25 era with MIL and two solid postseason starts to boot

Another name to look at post Mets trade is David Peterson. Had an ERA of 6 and then a was good SP for Cubs. Having any semblance of a defense helps a lot.

Edit: might actually be a lowkey good name to look at

Why not? Agai, you assume they are going to rock a $120M payroll next year.

Because the White Sox did not act like a team with a lot of money to spend at the deadline. They traded an additional prospect and contract to save money instead of taking on an entire deal.

Yeah I get that people want to be hopeful but I'm going to assume they are going to continue operating the way they have under Jerry. Ishbia doesn't own the team yet and I doubt he's fronting much money until he does. His focus now is on the new stadium.
