Saturday at 02:54 PM2 days What’s the nature of Colson’s back issue? If it’s a disc bulge, he could get a microdiscectomy in the offseason and be good as new.

Then he fouled off 2 pitches off his leg in a week in July. I'm sure those things didn't help, but I don't know if they had much to do with how bad he was in August and September. The late season struggles seemed far more mental than physical.

His approach needs to improve obviously, but if he had a disc issue, I’d be more confident that could be fixed.
Yesterday at 11:40 AM1 day Come on, he couldn't hit AAA pitching in early 2025. It's not his back. He has a flaw in his oinment.

8 hours ago8 hr After seeing Cam Booser pitch in high leverage yesterday. I thought if the Sox trade Colson to Milwaukee he will hit 45 homers with a .07% strike out rate, win a Gold Glove and be named the NL MVP.

5 hours ago5 hr Can the Sox afford to outbid other clubs to get Sato patrolling in LF or RF? Probably not. Can Soxtalk work it's magic again and get Sato on the team? Definitely.

Definitely.Just from a prospect perspective, I think Sato actually profiles a lot like Mune offensively. I think Mune has more power and plate discipline, while Sato has a slightly better hit tool. I thought Sato would be much better at making contact in NPB given he just won the triple crown, but his contact rates are only about 3% better than Mune's in NPB. That's far below (around 10% lower) Okamoto and Seiya Suzuki's NPB numbers. Just for reference, Okamoto made a ton of contact in Japan and even he struck out nearly 30% this year in MLB. It seems like Sato is better against velocity and off-speed pitches, so that may help his transition to MLB, but his mediocre plate discipline may limit his ceiling. Still, a guy who struck out nearly 27% of the time in NPB will most likely strike out at >30% clip in MLB. He might profile a lot like Okamoto, but just more in his prime with more power and better defense. Edited 5 hours ago5 hr by chw42

4 hours ago4 hr The Japanese players, generally speaking, are very disciplined. Even when adjusting to the league and going through their slumps… they do the work to get through it. He’d would be a worthwhile get assuming the details all worked out in coordination with the bigger plan.

If you're signing Sato, you're shipping out Bonemer as the headliner with Braden and Antonnaci now on the table as possible secondary pieces.
