Greatest freakin' day of my life. I woke up at my buddy's house, and saw a Bonds Macfarlane figure on the ground. I told him I wanted it and he gave it to me.

Thing of beauty, isn't it?

Anyone ever been to Montreal? I'm going up there to see the Hawks play in a week, staying only a couple of days.

Anyways, I want to go to the casino there, the big 'Casino de Montreal'. Of course I want to make a trip there but when checking their website I didn't see anything about Texas Hold'em (the game I'd be playing there). I thought a hold'em area was pretty standard to most casinos -- I'd be pretty dissappointed to go there and find out they don't have any hold'em tables...

They might play more Omaha than Hold 'Em.

That's the European game.

Wouldn't Alberta be their version of Texas?

:D

I dont know, I just looked on the map of Canada and picked the southern-most territory ;)

But now that I think about it, it would probably be Quebec considering that they continue to try and secede from Canada :D

I picked Alberta because of the connection to oil production and cattle rustlin'.

Seemed like a good enough fit, and I like the sound of Alberta Hold 'Em.

(although it kind of sounds like a shampoo commercial, now that I think too much about it....)

Take notes for me, because I'll probably be going later in the year.

This year's smattering of Rose Parade pictures can be found here, if anyone is interested.

Wow, what's with all the hate Jesus and Jesus saves stuff all over the place?

Also, I really think the floats are cool... the detail is amazing. What do you think after seeing it up close?

Must have been crafted by a classy guy.

Before and after the Parade, a variety of people decide to march down the open street since they have an audience of a million people or so, and others wanted to make statements about specific acts in the parade. The "God kills sinners" people have been there bookending the parade every year I've been there. This year we also had a block of Ron Paul people walking, a group of Taiwanese people protesting the decision to allow China to enter a float celebrating their Olympics, and I'm told Cindy Sheehan was somewhere in the area although I didn't see their group marching.

The floats and the whole presentation are quite impressive up close. For about 2 weeks out here we get to see them being constructed slowly on the news as the networks all take a few moments to broadcast from the construction sites. Not sure what else to say, it's an impressive undertaking.

It's one of the few parades that I would love to see in person...

totally agree. I read this stupid article on EW.com that said Letterman will gain in popularity because of the writer's strike (because of the deal he's worked out independently.) the only problem being....HE'S NOT FUNNY.

"Tonight I'll be staying here with you" has got to be one of the sexiest songs every written.

Are you talking about Dylan? I haven't heard many(if any) people describe his music as sexy. Although I absolutely love his stuff. I really like the I'm Not There soundtrack, especially the Hold Steady doing Crawl Out Your Window.

Agreed. I never liked Letterman. When Conan takes over for Leno, Conan will kill in the ratings.

God i cant wait til Conan takes over! He is so much more fun to watch than every other late night show. He's hilarious!

Yes, if things go smoothly I can switch jobs this summer and actually have work-life balance.

I absolutely love Conan but it'll be interesting to see how he goes over with the older group when he gets the earlier time slot.

Yeah, seriously. I loved the skit showing what he did while the show was off the air. Guitar and portable amp...
