2008 White Sox Catch-All Thread

I will clear things up in a short summation. While we are not 100% on the information posted, we did perform some follow-up confirmations (those follow-ups indicated that the information appeared to be legit). However, we are not in the business of ruining peoples careers and the material posted was such that could ruin someones career. As such, we pulled it from the site.

The only two people mentioned were Reiger and Wilder, right? If so, it's looking like they ruined their own careers (Reiger is still uncomfirmed I believe).

trying not to overreact w/ these last two losses. at least we're not losing 13-1 or 8-0. pitching is still there. even octavio had one hell of an inning yesterday. and friday's game had us hitting against a guy with a sub 1.4 ERA on the year, we just got beat that day. it was hard to swallow yesterday's loss (getting shut out is painful), but I don't see that much of a difference in production between us and the Angels to be quite honest. in fact I think our starting rotation as a whole is better than theirs, just wondering when these guys will start hitting. after 2007, i will not hop on the bandwagon necessarily that "They'll come around", though i think warm weather will help

even Dotel? Not sure why you say that...his WHIP is ugly at 1.58, but his K/9 is 14.7 and he's been a bit more wild than he generally ever has been, so I expect that to go down...he's been filthy. Barring injury, Dotel's going to have a great all-around year.

I see.

Bureau hasn't been banned has he? I hope he can still post here and at least give us updates on our prospects.

He could possibly maintain something close to that K/9 ratio IF he's used primarily as a righty specialist. He has excelled in that capacity.

I know most would probably say Dotel makes too much money to be a righty specialist but I'd like to see him stick there for now. I still think that in many cases the lefty and righty specialists are more valuable than even the closer is, and I say that because it seems like most of the time when the so-called LOOGY's and ROOGY's come in, they are coming in late in the game to face a dangerous hitter with men on base. In those situations a bad outing can change the entire complexion of the game, whereas often closers will come in with no one on to protect 2 or 3-run leads.

No one was banned.

Very correct...those splits are gross.

.208/.311/.226/.538 vs RHB

.300/.462/.500/.962 vs LHB

ewwww

you took what i said out of it's context, i was complimenting dotel, not disparaging him. figuring he struck out the side in that inning, i was definitely giving him his props.

By what OC has shown thus far the Sox would probably be better off letting him walk and get the 2 dratfs picks for it.

Looks like we have another Royce Clayton on our hands

Do team leaders usually care about their individuals stats this much?

He's been very hard to root for.

I was going to say something about this the other night. It was that stolen base attempt where he dropped the ball and they gave him an error. They had the camera on him looking at the scoreboard seeing the error posted and you could see him say , "Wow". IMO this guy doesn't want to be here.

good article on the Sox pitching by Phil Rogers

I f***ing hate that piece of crap writer. He's eating his words now because he predicted Cleveland would sweep us in the last series on route to taking over the division and running away with it, that being after they just got swept by the Reds. And now that we've won 4 in a row against the Indians, he has to acknowledge that the team actually might be pretty good.

And even in a White Sox articles, he has to mention his beloved f***ing Cubbies. Danks may not be an ace but I'm sure if Rich Hill had the same numbers he'd be doing the usual knob-gobbling.

God I hate Phil Rogers. He is the prototype Cubbie fan, an idiot with no real knowledge of baseball that hates on the Sox all the time. Amazing part is he's employed and thought highly of by the Tribune and ESPN, because the next good baseball thing by him I read will be the first.

Edited by whitesoxfan101

As a writer, Phil's not all that bad. He's nowhere near Scoop Jackson for example, but he's not all that bad.

As a baseball mind the guy is f***ing terrible. That's all there is to say about that.

I always thought Rogers was a White Sox fan.

Unlike some people, we actually care about the people that post here.

Some personalities are getting a bit testy with each other

By Mark Gonzales - 5:07 p.m.

CLEVELAND - The laughter over a three-man prank before batting practice turned tense Tuesday as White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen and Orlando Cabrera expressed a gulf of difference over the alleged lack of support Guillen has lent toward his shortstop.

But those words were mild, at least in tone, compared to the verbal exchange between reliever Octavio Dotel and conditioning coach Allen Thomas near the first base dugout while Guillen talked to reporters. Third-base coach Jeff Cox stepped in before tensions escalated.

Thomas, through a team spokesman, declined to comment. Dotel joined the rest of his relievers down the right field line during batting practice and was unavailable for comment.

Cowley is now talking about how Cabrera is saying that Ozzie doesnt have his back. How about this Cabrera, hit the f***ing ball, catch the f***ing ball, and stop with the distractions. You are here for a purpose, and getting into the paper for BS is not the name of the game. Ozzie has the back of his players, if you are getting called out in the papers then its your own fault.

Uribe started his rehab stint with Charlotte tonight. Interestingly, Richar has started at shortstop the past two games (makes sense with Uribe there, but yesterday Getz started).

Sounds like we got some premadonas on this club this year. If they win, I could give two s***s, but you obviously don't like hearing about it.

plural?

I'm not ready to indict Dotel yet, since there is no information out there as to what that was even about.

They are trying to get Richar his recovery time, but still play Getz, who is also a secondbaseman. Also interesting, Getz was in the outfield last night. Probably all due to having Uribe and Richar down there, but maybe also a chance they are trying out Getz in a utility role. Seeing if he can play some OF.

If my calculations are correct, we will miss Zambrano in the first series with the Cubs. We will face Lilly, Marquis, Dempster.

I was bored today.

That would be sweet to miss Zambrano.

If we both are in first place those will be huge games.

Look for bench clearing brawl in first game if both teams are in first.

Only if AJ puts his face in the way of a fist.
