2008 Chicago Cubs Catch-All Thread

Featured Replies

If run differential is an accurate indicator of a team's stregnth, the Cubs will run away with the NL Central. Check out the ESPN standings to see that stats. The Sox are best in the AL Central and tied with Boston in the AL at +30.

When did half their schedule become the pirates?

Correction: Oakland has a +31 at the moment. I also noticed the Angels are +6 and 6 games over .500. WTF is up with that?

I hate the National League...I can't believe Astros didn't line up Oswalt to face the Cubs this series. Soto's HGH has really paid off, as he's one of the best rookie catchers in a very long time. Also, Ted Lilly's on his way to a sub 4 ERA again.

haha, edmonds hurt already

That was a sharp foul off the shin.

I don't know why he wouldn't wear one of those guards.

Soto's inside-the-park HR (which should have been a regular out-of-the-park HR, but no umpire can figure out that retarded yellow line in Houston) was the first inside-the-parker by a Cubs catcher since 1959.

Great catch by Edmonds...I'm sure all the douchebags love him now.

so with 2 on and 2 outs and...you think tejada is gonna get something to hit here with berkman on deck

What's the chance of Berkman going 0 for the series?

same as the chances of any of esteban german, tony pena or david dejesus breaking up lesters no no in the ninth.....not good

The NL is just brutal. Either the Cubs are playing a team that features a AAA offense, or they face a team that features three or four #5 starters. Oh yeah, they get to face the Pirates every week.

Their starting pitching reminds me of the White Sox right now. Other teams just don't get a lot of hits against them. Also, hopefully Marmol's arm falls off soon. He's being overused.

the quality of bullpens in that league is horrendous too....

is marmol really gonna pitch to him? wow even if this works out how stupid

berkman has to be smarter than that...he had to know that marmol wasnt going to give him anything to hit, and he didnt throw a ball within a foot of the plate and berkman helped him out big time....

if you are the astros you gotta throw at soriano high and tight tomorrow after what the astros did to C lee

Perfect timing for Berkman to cool off. Every Cubs game is just so predictable.

What happened to C. Lee?

What happened to C. Lee?

twice threw high and tight...knocked him to his butt both times (once by lilly once by marmol)....announcers even said they were thrown with a purpose...nothing really wrong with it, just something that you do to the other team when it happens to you, but the mlb has disallowed the "self policing" recently

It wasn't a great catch, it was a TERRIBLE angle and bad midjudgement of the ball turned into a semi over the shoulder (although not really was it even a full over the shoulder) catch. I give him no credit for that, he made the catch hard himself.

Also, the people who say the NL is resurgent don't watch the games. They may have a lot of the top statistical guys offensively, but that's because the pitching in that league is AWFUL. The Cubs lineup is very good, but they never seem to see good starting pitching more than once a week. Just because the AL has a lot more good pitching and the NL a lot more good hitting doesn't mean the AL is down, it just means games are being played differently.

Yeah, he made it look hard because he took an awful route to the ball and is too old to do a speed turn or move his hips.

And seriously the cubs play the pirates again this weekend, what gives?

Cy Dempster at it again. The Bourn for Lidge trade was just awful by the Astros.

Poof!

Such a good piece of hitting by Pence.

Nice win by the Astros. Dempster only made a few bad pitches, but someone finally got a big hit against him.
