The Count 42 lbs lighter.

On the Final Word on Fox last night, Corey reported that Jose has lost 42lbs while recovering from the Achilles injury. And from the video they showed of him, he looks alot better than his previous Sox years. So how will this work out for him and the team?

I've already seen him lose 30, 33 and 42 pounds in posts.

Poor man is withering away.

Maybe he should join the Soxtalk Biggest Loser club? Looks like he's lost 105 pounds already!

I heard he lost 125 pounds and is now our new leadoff hitter.

Good thing he's not a Cub. Losing all that weight would mean he was on roids.

One thing for sure, we don't want to see Contreras hitting, ever again. Not good.

I seem to remember him also being hurt in that game at Cincinnati in May or June of 2006 when he lost his winning streak.

I also heard that he dropped 10 years off of his birth certificate...oh wait.

we all wish

Man he was freaking ripped in 2000

Contreras might be part of KW's plan and a reason why he's letting the kids go for the 5th spot in the rotation. He could be back pitching as early as June, though I'm sure they will procede with the usual caution. If Colon holds up ( a big IF) and a kid seizes the moment Count can be starter a reliever or trade bait if he can establish he's sound by the trade deadline.

It seems kind of weird to lose weight while having an injury that prohibits you from walking or doing any excessive exercises. But it's good for Jose.

Jose must have gotten some more ration money from Castro after the 2000 Olympics. xD

Jose looks motivated. Last year's run mustve really got him fired up.

He was in the pool at the end of the season. They said he really attacked the rehab regimen as early as he could.

If it's true it's great news. Any time a ballplayer is fit, it's important.

Wonder if Paulie lost the belly fat.

He was a little heavy last year.

I am sure he can't hit alick, but remember he hurt himself covering firstbase. Losing weight on a stengthening and conditioning program can spell winner for Jose C and the Sox. Hopefully he wil be back sooner rather than August!!

I sure did put on some weight. :(

Good for Jose... the weight loss will help reduce the stress on his injured foot.

Might help accelerate his rehab.

Money talks!

Of all Cuban defectors, Jose has banked the most money by far. Jose can buy his home town and more once the Cuban Talibans are gone.

Its obvious he killed his rehad program as he is several months ahead of schedule. That is an impressive timetable considering his age.

Jose was not fat, not even close. Why the weight loss?
