August 7, 200916 yr Boston and the Mets didn't make a claim according to http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/
August 7, 200916 yr QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 05:47 PM) Acquiring Rios wouldn't necessarily mean the end of Wise's stay I'd imagine. Ozzie would demote Beckham before DFAing Wise.
August 7, 200916 yr QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 04:47 PM) Acquiring Rios wouldn't necessarily mean the end of Wise's stay I'd imagine. If the Sox get Rios then Kotsay is probably on the way out. Wise goes nowhere. And watch Wise start in CF over Rios, too.
August 7, 200916 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 04:49 PM) ESPN speculation is around San Francisco and the Mets, Sox aren't mentioned. Of course the Sox aren't mentioned... according to ESPN the only Sox they know are the Red ones.
August 7, 200916 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 04:49 PM) ESPN speculation is around San Francisco and the Mets, Sox aren't mentioned. ESPN is aware that there are teams outside the Eastern time zone???
August 7, 200916 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 04:49 PM) ESPN speculation is around San Francisco and the Mets, Sox aren't mentioned. Well they're already wrong about the Mets.
August 7, 200916 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 02:49 PM) ESPN speculation is around San Francisco and the Mets, Sox aren't mentioned. Both teams would make some sense, San Fran moreso, but if I was reading what you posted earlier correctly, would he have to get past the whole AL before he got to either of them?
August 7, 200916 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 04:49 PM) ESPN speculation is around San Francisco and the Mets, Sox aren't mentioned. 4:39pm: Joel Sherman of the New York Post hears from a high-ranking Mets official that the Mets did not claim Rios. J.P. Ricciardi didn't get into specifics with MLB.com's Jordan Bastian and just said it's normal to place players on waivers.
August 7, 200916 yr QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 04:49 PM) If the Sox get Rios then Kotsay is probably on the way out. Wise goes nowhere. And watch Wise start in CF over Rios, too. Wise has been the last guy off of the bench since Kotsay got here. Wise would be gone in a heartbeat.
August 7, 200916 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 04:51 PM) Both teams would make some sense, San Fran moreso, but if I was reading what you posted earlier correctly, would he have to get past the whole AL before he got to either of them? That is true. AL teams get first dibs.
August 7, 200916 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 04:51 PM) Both teams would make some sense, San Fran moreso, but if I was reading what you posted earlier correctly, would he have to get past the whole AL before he got to either of them? Yeah, he would have to go through the AL teams first.
August 7, 200916 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 02:51 PM) Wise has been the last guy off of the bench since Kotsay got here. Wise would be gone in a heartbeat. I don't believe that at all.

August 7, 200916 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 04:52 PM) I don't believe that at all. I think he has one AB since Kotsay got here, and that was the PH last night.
August 7, 200916 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 02:52 PM) I think he has one AB since Kotsay got here, and that was the PH last night. And look what he did with it.
August 7, 200916 yr How about Wise for Rios? Now I'd stand up and applaud that. Edited August 7, 200916 yr by JPN366
August 7, 200916 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 04:53 PM) And look what he did with it. Dewayne Wise is 2 for his last 2. One resulted in a home run, the other a game winning RBI single. What's Ozzie waiting for? lol
August 7, 200916 yr QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 04:55 PM) How about Wise for Rios. Now I'd stand up and applaud that. Wise would have to clear waivers first, and Ozzie would be too worried that someone else would claim him.
August 7, 200916 yr It does make some sense from the Sox point of view. The real question would be the money and whether ownership felt they could invest in another cheaper player next year and get similar production.
August 7, 200916 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 04:52 PM) I think he has one AB since Kotsay got here, and that was the PH last night. His ride off of the perfect game catch has nearly ended as it is. Acquiring Rios would be the end of him.
