September 9, 201114 yr Broken hand on a HBP. Hell of a season for him. Definitely look forward to seeing him take on a bigger role next year. Edited September 9, 201114 yr by fathom
September 9, 201114 yr This legit makes me sad. Hell of a year by a guy who was fun as hell to watch play. Get better, Brent!
September 9, 201114 yr This sux. Too bad more guys on this team don't have the heart this kid shows. He was fighting back tears realizing his season would be over and said he was hoping for one more final push. Edited September 9, 201114 yr by buhbuhburrrrlz
September 9, 201114 yr This is terrible. The guy still ran the bases afterwards though. The legend continues.
September 9, 201114 yr He'll be our 4th OF/Back up 1st next year. I can honestly see him learning some catching too, to allow Flowers/AJ DHing situations. Hell of a season by Frodo, and I wish him naught but the best.
September 9, 201114 yr Dude ran the bases with a broken hand. If only half our team showed that kind of heart. Great year for Frodo.
September 9, 201114 yr The saddest part is how his broken hand is going to keep him from ummm... indulging himself over the long winter. Edited September 9, 201114 yr by Chet Kincaid
September 9, 201114 yr That's very disappointing. I saw him get hit, and right away I thought his hand was broken. You could tell he was in a ton of pain when Herm was checking his hand out. Lillibomb was one of the greatest surprises on this team this year. The guy gives it his all. I imagine he'll be back as the 4th OF next season.
September 9, 201114 yr He'll still outhomer Dunn. Thanks for a great year brent. You shoulda played more.
September 9, 201114 yr It will be interesting to see what his playing time looks like next year, and where he plays.
September 9, 201114 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 09:07 AM) It will be interesting to see what his playing time looks like next year, and where he plays. Depends on whose job it is to decide that.
September 9, 201114 yr ChrisRongey Chris Rongey Herm confirms the fracture in Lillibridge's hand is the 5th metacarpal. In case you love details. BSLillibridge Brent Lillibridge Thanks for the love everyone. Very frustrated, but God has blessed me all year here in Chicago. See you all on the field in Spring.
September 9, 201114 yr QUOTE (shipps @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 08:21 AM) Probably a better second base option for next year than Becks IMO. I'm not one of those guys that was going around calling Gordon Beckham the Bacon Slayer and claiming he was a future Hall of Famer, but Beckham does have one hell of a glove. I don't know if Lilli can give you that night in and night out.
September 9, 201114 yr QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 09:41 AM) I'm not one of those guys that was going around calling Gordon Beckham the Bacon Slayer and claiming he was a future Hall of Famer, but Beckham does have one hell of a glove. I don't know if Lilli can give you that night in and night out. He's shown he can do it in the OF.
September 9, 201114 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 08:41 AM) He's shown he can do it in the OF. Eh... I think 2nd would be more of a challenge though. Plus I can't see Beckham being this bad at the plate next year. Maybe with a new hitting coach he will have a resurgence in 2012.
September 9, 201114 yr QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 08:41 AM) I'm not one of those guys that was going around calling Gordon Beckham the Bacon Slayer and claiming he was a future Hall of Famer, but Beckham does have one hell of a glove. I don't know if Lilli can give you that night in and night out. I'm more worried about his bat on a nightly basis.
September 9, 201114 yr Is it safe to call Lilly--if we take Paulie out of consideration, who's a lock--the 2011 Sox player of the year? I mean this guy just DEFINES hustle, spirit, enthusiasm, ability--you know, everything that's missing from the 2011 Sox. Sorry to see him out for the season but doesn't that just go right along with how 2011 has been. Lilly: my favorite player of 2011 by far.
