My one problem with DayZ is that you're so lost when you start off. I wish they would give you some help because if they really want to make it hardcore the character would have some experience with the area and whatever events led to that point. I watched some video of it and thought it was too intimidating. Looks really hard.

Oh yeah, it's buggy, but it's not even in beta yet. It'll only get better as time goes on.

 

And yes, the game is intimidating, but that's part of the fun. There are no "rails" to follow. It's you and the world. I saw some guy on IGN found a map, so hopefully I can find one.

If I wanted to be intimidated or trepidatious over something I'd tackle something big at work. I play games to have fun and this game doesn't look like fun to me. That said, I love the concept. I'll keep following it to see what they come up with. It definitely needs some major work, but the starting concept is impressive. They definitely nailed the feel of it.

Madden 13 Demo Review is up.

 

This wasn’t supposed to be a mostly negative review, but it wound up being so. I get excited for Madden each and every season, and I will happily fork over my $60 for this year’s version, but the gameplay “enhancements” were few and far between, and most of the changes were for the worse. Hopefully the much-hyped improvements to the online franchise will make it more than worth the wait. However, as far as the gameplay goes, I’d have preferred updated rosters to Madden 12! All-in-all, the graphics were slightly upgraded, while the gameplay was slightly downgraded. At least there were no noticeable changes made to the controls.

Game play is always up and down, I generally just care that they make franchise more fun.

 

Contract negotiation was ridiculous. Its a freaking video game just tell me what they want, i cant imagine anyone has fun increasing the salary by 10k to get the player at the cheapest value.

Im obviously still going to buy Madden because on release day Carter224 is going to force me to like always. But the make or break feature for me is this connected careers thing. It sounds like a cool idea, but it had better be worth not being able to edit rosters AT ALL.

No, the problem is lack of competition. EA makes such a fantastic NHL franchise, and 2K (I'm told) makes such a great NBA franchise, and it's likely because of the competition. TECHNICALLY SCEA has MLB competition, but that's debatable.

Even when the 2k series was doing the NFL it's not like Madden progressed all that much. Every year they update rosters and try to add one gimmick that sounds great and then sucks terribly (hello, passing cone). Every other year they update animations and voice overs. Rinse and repeat for 27 years. I mean, I love me some Madden as much as the next guy, I just buy it once every 4-5 years and I have yet to miss out on anything major.

The only way you can use custom rosters is in a Play Now session. Thats the biggest load of crap ive ever seen from EA. The whole reason I get these football games is so i can enjoy an online dynasty with my friends. Knowing the s***ty track record the roster guys at EA have... ugh...

I dont think theres been much detail released yet but man this is the best time of year to be a virgin. We've got madden, black ops 2, GTA 5, Borderlands 2, Halo 4, Assassins creed 3, the new fifa, the new NHL, the new nba2k.
