If the Sox don't make the playoffs the offensive downgrade from Quentin to Viciedo will be at the top of the reasons why list.

Carlos has Viciedo in two categories, and that is walks which gives him a better OBP. Everything else is pretty damn close to what Viciedo is giving, plus much better defense.

And lets not even mention how many games Quentin misses on a yearly basis

If the Sox were still paying Quentin, could they afford to add Youk, Liriano, & Myers?

It have meant someone like Floyd or AJ would have been traded in the off-season.

No it won't

Well, I that's just ridiculous.

Also, answer the original question. Who do you want?

On July 20-22 the Tigers swept the Sox in a three game series. The team records between that sweep and the most recent debacle are as follows:

White Sox 22-13

Tigers 17-17

(Oh yeah. Sox respond to getting swept by the Royals in the middle of these series' by going 6-0 including a home sweep of the Yankees for the first time since Bush Sr. was in office.)

So far this time around the Sox win 2 of 3 from Minnesota and Detroit loses AT LEAST 2 of 3 to Cleveland... Maybe more.

He has played 77 game this year. Who played LF for the other 50 in your scenario?

I don't know, probably Viciedo.

Quentin: .262/.371/.502 in 77 games

Viciedo: .239/.282/.371 in his last 77 games

So an .873 OPS for Quentin in the toughest hitters park in MLB versus a .653 for Viciedo over that same time. Huge difference.

Quentin's a good player, but you have to account for the time he's not available when evaluating his overall worth.

That ability to play in a game is an important stat.

You must have missed the Juan Pierre splitting with Viciedo debate. I know, it sounds silly.

It takes baseball intellect not to deal away what would be the team's best offensive player.

He's played in 77 games, quit f***ing trolling.

77 games, what's your point?

IIRC, the ESPN announcers last night said Quentin has a tough time even playing two straight games cause of his knees. I loved watching Quentin bat, but I completely understand why they got rid of him.

Did you not just imply Quentin would be our best hitter had KW held on to him?

Yes. .873 OPS with home games in Petco is not bad.

No one is saying it is, but he's still only played 77 games. He's not a full-time player and he would not be our best hitter for that reason alone.

It's quite clear that you're still looking for reasons to bash KW and this attempt is even bad for your standards.

And yet, San Diego LFs have only put up a .775 ops on the season. Almost as if the .873 OPS guy misses half the year.

What was so fantastic about it? Trading Quentin was a bad move.

Also worth noting that we got Liriano with 1 of the 2 returned pieces?

Still bad idea. This lineup could desperately use Quentin's bat. H was the closest think the Sox had to a #3 hitter.

Rios is a prototypical 3rd hitter
