"Sox legend"?

AJ was very good with us, he was an integral part of helping us to win the World Series in 2005...but legend is really pushing it. That word is reserved for guys like Shoeless Joe Jackson, Nellie Fox, Aparicio, etc.

But wasn't Sean Tracey the one who was ordered to hit someone with the Rangers by Ozzie? Or was that Garland, and he failed to do it...? Can't remember now.

It was Tracey in 2006 -- not long before our second-half collapse.

Gotta admit I am surprised they drilled AJ.

Although he reportedly got prickly with Dallas media Tuesday for asking about White Sox.

You guys slay me.

AJP does all that great s*** to help us win the title in 2005 like the great play against the Angels and now that he's wearing another jersey you like seeing the Sox throw at him. There's a good chance when we all die, AJP will be a member of the only Sox team that won it all in our lifetimes.

That has nothing to do with a teammate potentially hating his guts.

Maybe the great Sox legend wasn't very liked in the clubhouse?

Maybe our clubhouse has a bunch of prima donnas if that's the case and they can't handle a prick who likes to win.

If true, it wasn't just the sox...

Sox legend with swing-at-everything inflated OBP and little defensive value

Sometimes circumstances make legends out of guys that on their own were only solid/OK

I'm speechless if the devaluation of AJP's career with the Sox has already begun. Wow.

If that's the case, they would have traded him or at least not kept him around for an additional 7 seasons after the World Series win in 2005.

KW always liked his competitive, grindy, hard-nosed players who were as good at the mental side as the physical side.

Now if you want to say this style was the opposite of Dunn, Thome, Konerko, Dye, Rios...at least the perception most have of them...then that's probably fair.

But surely Konerko would have gone to JR or KW or Ozzie or Ventura at some point if the problem was THAT bad that it was a clubhouse distraction or eroding the team chemistry.

Would you call Crede, Rowand and Jenks Sox "legends"? Uribe? Garland?

Obviously, Frank Thomas...but Buehrle and Konerko will always be considered the heart of that World Series team.

If that was intentional, it was just about the dumbest thing imaginable.

Reed is a punk and the White Sox are a classless organization.

Just because AJ gave Reed a dirty look does not mean Reed threw at him. But, AJ still had the look after the game.

If anyone thought that was intentional, they need their heads examined.

Granted the pitch was up and in but it's not like he threw at his back or anything. Not to mention AJ clearly sticks out the elbow pad to take it and get on base. Even the Rangers broadcast recognized that.
