July 31, 201312 yr QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 03:17 PM) Since this has become the deadline catch-all, the biggest loss amongst the whole deadline is not getting anything for Lindstrom. Even an organizational player is worth more than his production the rest of the way Might be worth picking up his $4M option to see if you can deal him next year
July 31, 201312 yr QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 03:18 PM) One downside to this deadline though, I was really hoping to see Avisail get some time out in the OF from here to the end of the season I think you will get your wish in September. Sox do not want waste a option on him, Detroit used one already this year.
July 31, 201312 yr One good point regarding Rios - is Hanh can now wait until Pittsburg, St Louis, or Texas fail due to having a hole and eventually tell them: "Told you you'd regret not making a deal. Next time maybe you'll believe me." I am kinda shocked that no one else went. No one wanted Lindstrum because of recent suckage? No one wanted to pay anything for Rios... No one wanted Alexi and his price tag? Well... Then again... I guess it's not all THAT surprising.
July 31, 201312 yr Jayson Stark @jaysonst 1m Hearing Dodgers and Twins made last-minute deal. Not a blockbuster. C Drew Butera to Dodgers.
July 31, 201312 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 01:16 PM) Now that the deadline is over, there's only one thing left to do..."Lose this whole f'n thing" TPSM I urge you all to place that in your signatures.
July 31, 201312 yr I think you will get your wish in September. Sox do not want waste a option on him, Detroit used one already this year. Options are for the entire year. You don't waste another option if he's already spent time in the minors this year.
July 31, 201312 yr QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 03:20 PM) Jayson Stark @jaysonst 1m Hearing Dodgers and Twins made last-minute deal. Not a blockbuster. C Drew Butera to Dodgers. No!! Any one but Drew, what a mind F to wrap up this insanely dramatic trade deadline day.
July 31, 201312 yr QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 03:19 PM) Might be worth picking up his $4M option to see if you can deal him next year It worked pretty well with Frasor.
July 31, 201312 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 03:08 PM) I'd say he's the symbol of this team in the eyes of a certain group of fans, not everyone. Mouth-breathers? Lol I could just as easily say its PK's fault for not holding anyone accountable. Nevertheless, I'm willing to give some of these guys mulligans for the year. It's been a Murphy's Law kind of year.
July 31, 201312 yr QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 09:17 PM) Since this has become the deadline catch-all, the biggest loss amongst the whole deadline is not getting anything for Lindstrom. Even an organizational player is worth more than his production the rest of the way Someone made the point he's probably worth keeping for our starting pitching's sanity.
July 31, 201312 yr There is undeniably an attitude problem with this team. It isn't the whole problem, there have been injuries, bad luck, aging, young players not taking steps forward, but also attitude. It has not felt like many players on this team cared about the results of games for much of the season.
July 31, 201312 yr QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 03:19 PM) Might be worth picking up his $4M option to see if you can deal him next year If you can't deal him with what he's making now, I don't see that as viable. Really, he's currently not making much more than a guy like Heath would be making to take his roster spot.
July 31, 201312 yr Doug Padilla @ESPNChiSox 18m Rios on not being moved at deadline: "I'm cool staying here. I like this place."
July 31, 201312 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 03:25 PM) Rick Hahn on 670 tomorrow after the 9am update. 9am?

July 31, 201312 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 03:25 PM) Rick Hahn on 670 tomorrow after the 9am update. We didn't want to spend any of the money we saved from Peavy??

It isn't the whole problem, there have been injuries, bad luck, aging, young players not taking steps forward, but also attitude. It has not felt like many players on this team cared about the results of games for much of the season. I don't see an attitude problem. I see a group that really got down on themselves and nobody stepped up to lead or rally them. It's a team without identity. Judging from the dugout, they all seem to get along.

I think they miss AJ, or at least someone like AJ. I know, AJ was on the 2007 team, but this team has more ability than that. I think they are missing an agitator.
