Yep

Thirded.

And yes Bonds' numbers are just absurd to look at now.

Choo to the Rangers.

Choo to the Rangers.

A 7 year deal? Who are they competing against for Choo? Maybe Seattle/Cincinnati, etc. were all in on this, but my first thought is that Texas got a really good player for the first 3 or so years.

Boras lost him 10 million bucks

No state income tax in Texas. I don't think Boras lost him anything.

Source: Choo and #Rangers shifted $5M from first year of seven-year $130M deal to 2016 and ’17, creating additional flexibility for ’14.

I would have really loved to see Choo on the Sox, but not at that price.

That Texas lineup just got a lot better. Their top 5 is pretty dangerous with Choo, Beltre, and Fielder.

Wow.

Getting cheap players like Hahn is doing is becoming even more important in this crazy ass FA environment.

Holy s***.

What do you think Shin Soo Choo would have gotten if he had hit the market a year ago?

That is one of the first things I think about when evaluating a deal. When a guy's likely value jumps tremendously from one year to the next, especially at Choo's age, I tend to think the current value is too high.

Right place, right time. Just dumb luck, coming off an excellent season with the Reds, and the money having to flow somewhere.

Nelson Cruz is basically the only big name FA position player dangling out there, and the Stephen Drew's signing MIGHT have some impact on the Alexei Ramirez market, if there is one actually.

Smart move by Texas. '15 FA market doesn't look that great. Get him now.

K. Suzuki signed for $2.75 million with the Twins.

I have no idea where else to put this, but how on earth did I never hear of Jason Neighborgall?

You would think anyone who could get a 108.00 ERA and 15.00 WHIP in 5 appearances would be a household name. Seriously the kid managed a double digit ERA and a WHIP of just under 4.000 in 42 IP over a period of years. That is impressive.

That guys 2007 south bend line is impressive
