Toronto playing HR Derby off Verlander.

Verlander has been bad for five starts now. Torii Hunter made an error that he didn't pitch over, and now Brett Lawrie took him deep.

6-3 Jays, top 6

Big series next week. Huge.

Bad for five starts ... Hmm is Verlander still an ace?

No, not that the term "ace" has any real connotation.

If you had to start a playoff series tomorrow with Danks, Quintana, Sale and Verlander (assuming all are equally rested), what order are you putting them in?

How about Scherzer, Sanchez, Porcello, Smyly, Verlander?

Tigers season:

27-12

4-13

31-25

Thank you for falling apart!

As of right now you'd probably take Verlander over Smyly but only because of the big guy's history.

The Tigers have a minus-50 run differential in their last 17 games . . . Folks, that is hard to do.

I'm not greedy--I'll settle for them being only minus-25 over their next 17 games.

Probably Verlander 3rd.

Smyly hasn't been a full-time starter since his rookie year and you just can't put Porcello ahead of Verlander in the post-season when you're paying him that kind of money...he's got to prove in the post-season that he's going to get bombed at least once and maybe twice before you pull him from the rotation.

Look how long the Red Sox stuck with Peavy when he was giving them mediocre to terrible starts.

Sox desperately need to split with Detroit in that 4-game series. Losing 3 or more and forget it, we won't be contending this year with the Tigers in that scenario. Time to play with them on their level.

Jason Kubel DFA

Figured he was gone.

White Sox will pick him up as Dunn's replacement for next season, haha.

Scherzer taking out an insurance policy on himself to protect against $144 million injury...surely will be a new trend for high-end pitchers.

Miggy left tonight's game in the 6th inning due to a left hamstring.

3 run homer to Ortiz. Joba blows Tigers lead

In the ninth innings of games: the Tigers have pitched 50 2/3 innings, and allowed 46 runs.

The Tigers’ 9th-inning numbers are staggering: 7.71 ERA, .923 OPS against, 24 extra-base hits allowed. Has given a pulse to rest of Central.

That's what Kansas City's season has been like for their fans as well...a microcosm on one play.

Scherzer had 178 career GS before his 1st career CG. That was the longest drought to start a career in last 100 yrs: http://gadel.me/ST3Lrq
