As old and slow as he seemed last year, I wouldn't want someone like Peppers playing with a chip on his shoulder against us.lol

Remains to be seen what Peppers has left in the tank but it cant be worse than the turds the Packers had to trot out last year

As a part-time player, he will be solid. But as a full-time starter, he is nothing more than an average DE. Packers have money, so I think it is an overall solid signing for them. That being said, Willie Young is probably a better player than Peppers going forward and will be making like much less.

It will be interesting to see Peppers in a 3-4, he has been a 4-3 DE his entire career

They got Peppers cheap and he won't be a full time player. I expect the Packers to be running a more hybrid defense this year. If they can all stay healthy, I think they can be pretty good, but the health is the big question mark with that team.

3/30 is cheap for a guy who won't be a full time player?

NFL contracts are never what they seem. Only 7.5 million of that is guaranteed. He will only count 3.5 million against the Packers salary cap.

So it's basically a one year deal.

Of course, he'll then count $2 million against their cap the next 2 years or so too.

Glad to have Peanut back, he was still playing well at his age.

I predict Peppers has six sacks next year, five against the Bears.

Me either. It isn't like anyone else was even on the Bears line most of the year. The thing that sucks is I would have been okay with Peppers at that price (with a restructure).

I still really want Jared Allen. Sign him and I'm okay giving him 10M a year too (as long as it is structured right). Then just focus on DT, S, CB, and MLB in this years draft. The three ends we signed will be nice depth (plus existing guys) and you can slide Houston inside on 3rd down.

Devin Hester says he would "love" to play for Dolphins

Local product is one of best kickoff/punt returners in NFL history

March 15, 2014|By Chris Perkins

RIVIERA BEACH – Devin Hester, the ex-Chicago Bears specialist whose 18 kickoff and punt return touchdowns are the best in NFL history, seems excited by the possibility of playing for the Dolphins.

“I would love to play for the Dolphins,” Hester said Saturday from his USA Football FUNdamentals clinic at his alma mater, Rivera Beach Suncoast High School.

Perhaps part of his enthusiasm is for business purposes, to create a market. Hester, the former University of Miami standout and three-time Pro Bowl selection, is a free agent. He said 13 teams have contacted his agent, including the Dolphins.

Although Lovie Smith, Hester’s former coach in Chicago, is now head coach with Tampa Bay, Hester said he wouldn’t consider any team as being in the lead for his services next season.

Still, the eight-year veteran perked up a bit at the prospect of playing for his hometown team.

Hester said he’d even be willing to play wide receiver, an experiment that hasn’t been fruitful during his career. Hester has 217 receptions for 2,807 yards and 14 touchdowns, and he’s never seemed to excel in that role.

Hester said he shot down the idea of playing wide receiver for the Bears last year.

“Me and some of the guys on the offensive side weren’t on the same page,” Hester said. “I said if we’re not on the same page we can just let me focus on kickoff and punt returns...It just didn’t click on the offensive side of the ball.”

Hester said the Bears coaching staff and head coach Marc Trestman weren’t upset by his decision.

“No, they weren’t (upset),” he said. “Coach Trestman wanted me for receiver, but I told him I’d rather just focus on kickoff and punt returns.”

Hester, 31, is one of the best to ever play the game in that category. He led the NFL last season with 1,436 kickoff return yards and was sixth in kickoff return average at 27.6 yards per return.

The Dolphins use return specialist Marcus Thigpen for kickoff and punt returns, and 18th in kickoff return average at 22.3 yards per return last season.

Hester said he still has his best asset.

“Last week I ran a 4.38 (40-yard dash) so I’ve still got the speed,” Hester said. “It’s not that. I just have to be put in the right system and get the right opportunity and things will happen.”

Speaking of contracts not being what they seem:

@RapSheet: New #Patriots CB Darrelle Revis will take his physical tomorrow and sign his 2-year, $32M deal, source says. Then it will be official

So do the Seahawks have any cornerbacks beside Sherman now?

Given some of the stuff he tweets, I don't find this very surprising at all.

IIRC this isnt the first time he has been caught with a controlled substance

I find it very surprising that he was arrested and charged. Carmel has a lot of very wealthy people and the police there have been known to let a lot of stuff go.

Byron Maxwell well probably start across from Sherman.

They also have Deshawn Shead. He is another big corner. 6'2 220.
