Got the best scorer and don't have to waste a second draft pick. Dig it.

Dougie McBuckets

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 07:52 PM)
Isnt the cap only an issue if they get Melo or Lebron? They just picked McDermott, not a SG who could play with those guys.

Instead of a rookie, well get some average old player. It just doesnt make sense.

He is a much more realistic option for 4 than 2. With scorers of Rose and Melo's caliber, there's a ton of value in having a dead-eye shooter on the court to spread the floor

At 16 right now bulls would have been guaranteed 1 of Hood, Harris or Young.

All would fit in way better with a team getting Melo.

The only thing I can think of is the Bulls are actually going for Love not Melo, and are going to be trading Taj.

Melo and McDermott is not really a great combination to be on the floor at the same time. A guy like Rodney Hood would make a ton more sense if they were actually getting Melo.

Melo's backup, Taj/Butler replacement if they need scoring, Melo insurance policy in case he doesn't come.

I loved watching McDermott. Not sure how good he will be, but I'm sure the fans will love him.

Thats the point. The Bulls needed a guy who can play 2 or 3, not a 3 who can play against some of the weaker 4s.

Just for clarity sake that move does essentially nothing from a cap perspective

KC Johnson - Bulls working to package 16 and 19 for McDermott, which puts Dunleavy in play for trade.

19th pick is a million i think

The difference between 11 + roster hold vs. 16 and 19s is under 500K.

You need guys that can shoot the ball and spread the floor. They got the best guy for that.

Chad Ford says they save 900k in cap space with the move.

Hood is just as good, and you could have potentially had hood plus a good pg to back up Rose.

McDermott isnt that much better.

He is going to want #11 pick money regardless of the picks Bulls trade money saved may not be what people think.

You guys are haters. Dougie mcbuckets!

No.

Yeah Hood plays a 2/3, which is would work better for the Bulls.

But its okay, we didnt need a back up pg.

We have Kirk for another year, right?

As for McDermott - 55% from the floor and 46% from three while averaging 21.7 points per game. He never shot lower than 52.5% overall or 40.5% from three in any single season. As the primary scorer. As the primary guy defenses attacked.

Hood shot 46% overall and 42% from three. On a Duke team where he was the 2nd or 3rd option.

edit: and they're the same size. why do you think Hood is a 2/3?

MarkDeeksNBA: #16 and #19 for #11 does NOT save money for Chicago. Difference between cap holds + extra needed roster charge = almost identical money.

KCJHoop: This McDermott deal is actually less a money saver (only about $350K) than an addition that puts Dunleavy in play for sign-and-trade talks.

As a Frosh Doug shot 40% from 3, Hood 42%.

And Kirk is the exact guy that needs to stop playing.

Yeah, Adam Morrison was pretty good, too. How did that work out? For the first time ever I agree with Badger. Awful trade. But at least Chicago has another grindy white guy to worship.
