Royals had almost EVERYTHING go against them for 5 straight innings (except for Herrera getting out of the 6th with only one Finnegan run given up) and still persevered.

Four extra inning wins out of five total postseason victories after being 5-7 in the regular season.

 

Eight straight in the post-season going back to 1985 World Series.

 

 

Of course, Delmon Young will probably tie it with a 3 run homer, haha.

Bud Norris will go in Game 2.

 

Here's why, 18/79 (current Royals) against him, just one homer, six RBI's (Ibanez has hit him the best and most, and is likely to get the nod over Butler IMO at DH), .228/.274/.291/.565 slash line.

 

 

Likely Game 3 starter Wei-Yin Chen has been battered and bruised by KC.

 

41/129, 6 homers, 17 RBI's, Hosmer and Butler with two homers each, .318/.343/.535/.878 slash line.

 

 

Seems quite obvious, but the Orioles simply have to win behind Norris, because the loudest stadium in MLB history and those startling career statistics against Chen equals doom if they go to KC down 2-0 in a best of 7.

 

 

 

Think it's a good thing for KC that Ventura gets to go in the daytime/late afternoon instead of the primetime lights. The glare/shadows will definitely help him out a lot.

The time of the game didn't bother me because it seemed like there was always something happening. How many times did the bases get loaded and nobody scored, 3? 4? It isn't like the Yankees/Red Sox where there are ten discussions with the pitcher in one at bat and each hitter readjusts his batting gloves between every pitch.

Look at Gordon's splits...better against lefties for most of this year.

That and they couldn't afford to burn through even more relievers and Perez/infante are righties following Alex.

Gordon struggles with four strikeouts but hosmer Escobar moustakas (4 homers after only two in 169 abs to end the regular season) and Cain continue to roll....along with that lockdown pen that kept the orioles from scoring in the eighth after the Herrera error and walk. Nobody will run on Gordon in left field either.

 

Speed continues to kill...Raising cain in the outfield and distracting Britton on the mound as well as causing fielders to rush plays.

 

I think Cain is now 10/27 on the postseason fwiw.

This is why all the advanced stats don't matter much of the time.

Norris gave up nine hits in 4 1/3 innings. Norris sucked today. One thing is for sure. Tigers fans have to be wondering how the Sox (2005) and Royals (this year) have had no problems winning postseason games compared to their poor Tigers who more often than not, choke.

A lot "on here?" Blame the White Sox front office and coaches. He was a headcase in Chicago with all those mental mistakes on the basepaths and miscues in the outfield. The Sox pretty much were forced to dump him for little to nothing in return. Even Hawk and Stoney got on him on TV he was so bad. If he's a great ballplayer, it doesn't look good that the Sox were not able to bring it out of him.
