Dodgers aggressively pursuing Alexei

Well, they would be buying in for TWO years of Ramirez.

I couldn't imagine any team would be absolutely sure that they'd even want to keep Alexei in 2017.

It's completely a "win now" move.

They'd also be able to offer him a QO if healthy right?

Yep, so if he overperforms and they want to keep him, there's protection.

If he falls off a cliff, they're not wasting another $10 million...which is still important to the bottom 20 teams in MLB payroll.

I wouldn't term their discussion "aggressive"

You hearing anything regarding free agency Rock?

There is nothing wrong with guys profiling as relievers especially these days.

If you're Wade Davis and can lock down the 8th around 95% of the time instead of a mediocre 5th starter, sure.

That's unfortunate.

He'd probably turn it down if he was still playing that well.

Let's put it this way. Crazy ex gf's are aggressive with the phone. There are tons of call on Alexei, none crazier than the others. The sox asking price is that of a gold glover.

A little. I'm a way behind on PM's and I'm hoping to get a chance to do a summary.

Lots of action for sure. The sox are trying to get better in probably four positions.

Hit me with a summary of anything you know and feel comfortable sharing - por favor.

Cheers Daddy-O.

Id keep an eye on one of those guys that are free agents next year as well. There are a few that fit with what they are trying to do.

Are you actually disclosing info through PMs? I would love to be in the know, but I didn't want to bother you with PMs because I was assuming you were getting enough PMs that you couldn't give answers for.

I try. I have an entire page of unread ones right now

So then they're also looking at guys like Fister, Zimmerman, Shark, Price, Latos...pretty much every pitcher that will be a FA after 2015, with the caveat of course being able to convince a player in the same situation as Heyward with the Cards next year not to go out onto the open market and offer his services to the highest bidder.

I guess I'll go ahead and throw my penny in the fountain then. I'm basically combining your info and Bucket's info to try and figure out some possible targets.

There is a possibility of an expensive splash with the budget I've heard however I don't think they are set on outbidding other teams.

Which means you can essentially forget about any of the "premium" free agents in the top 10-20, and that probably includes Melky Cabrera.

Right on man. Hit me up some time PM style - lets talk shop about the little ones. :)

I read his statement of outbidding a little differently: As in if they have a set price that is offered and it's tops - the same lash happens... If another team ups our offer and a bidding war is beginning to form - it's peace out. No water for us then.

My understanding is that they're trying to position themselves to compete for many years. It will be interesting to see how rents comport with that...unless they are confident that they can get extensions without them hitting the open market (which I have seen only once, and that was Garcia who had an in house connection).

i was thinking about that as well. they, the sox get a player who is

2 yr from FA's. they talk about an extension and offer a very good

contract. the point is will he take it or not. now throw in the joker, let

say he has a agent who would rather see client go to the open market.

the sox loose. but in those 2 yrs, how did the team perform and then

the sox can always give that player a QO.
