A way to fix it is to change your DNS to Google's (8.8.8.8) and then change to the standard MLB.tv player (you can find the setting by hitting the gear at the bottom of the player).

I'm watching it on my Xbox and it is horrible right now

 

5 innings, 100+ pitches, 9 hits and 5 earned runs. Very impressive.
