SOTO! BAM!

If we have a lead going into the ninth, does Robertson pitch again? Or do you go with Putnam?

Robertson. But Robin is a moron so he'll throw Junior Guerra in there.

Save situation = Mr. Robertson

Sox and Hawks both winning 2-1 late. Let's see if both can keep the leads.

Ground ball + hit is greater than k. So the play makes sense

No it doesn't.

A hit and run is best used when:

a) the batter is someone who does not frequently strike out,

b) at a time when the count won't disadvantage a hitter if he takes a bad swing

and c) with a runner fast enough to take second base even if the batter does strike out.

The Sox didn't have a, b or c.

And why do you think a ground ball or a hit is more likely than a K? Genuine question, just briefly thinking about it without running numbers I'd be really unsure about that.

Who wants Flowers again not me?

With that bomb Soto's OPS is now almost 100 points higher than Flowers'. I was also looking at the one thing Flowers has done well this year (pitch framing), and Soto is right behind him in that. Basically there's no reason Flowers should get more playing time.

It's been time to start Soto all year, but now it's really time to start Soto

Run the numbers. You are wrong.the 2 bad things are a K and a line out in the infield. There is more than a 50% chance that doesn't happen.

Stupid call, should have been a dropped 3rd strike with a passed ball and Shuck on 1st. He walked him anyways, but watching the calls rack up against the Sox is awakening my inner meatball...

I'm not wrong about the hit and run. And I just said I'd be unsure about groundball/hit v K, not that it's wrong. I'm simply asking why you think that.

What purpose does Bonifacio serve on this team? He can't hit, run, or play defense.

None.

Defense is so comical. How are we winning

I think he's the first to be DFA'd.

It wasn't a hit and run

Correa is dangerous Hawk, but is he as dangerous as Zach Putnam?

Putnam having a pretty good run recently

If it was, it means that Soto isn't taking signs, which opens another set of manager concerns.

That being said, you're right --- probably was just a double play avoidance tactic.

Putnam is pitching like he did last year.

Nasty movement

Yes he is.

He is Bruce Sutter-ish when he's on with that splitter. Fun to watch!
