Dodgers are getting Mat Latos and Mike Morse from the Marlins, as reported by @GDubCub.

Does this take them out of Hamels/Price race?

Oh s***, time to see who the Dodgers gave up.

And one of their outfielders HAS to be on the move.

Nah the plan for them was always to add 2 starters. Latos qualifies as that secondary one.

Betting one of the prospects will be Kyle Farmer.

Which suitors are left for Hamels?

Yankees? Blue Jays? Twins in a shocker? Rangers? Astros? Cardinals? Giants?

With how well Latos has been pitching recently, they're not forced to jump into the market for another pitcher...although they'll be happy to take another one at desperation sell prices (see Shields) on the 31st.

Keep forgetting about the Cubs.

Are they coming off the "Starling Castro will net us any pitcher we want" routine and throwing out some legit prospects like McKinney, Gleyber Torres, Edwards, Almora, etc.?

are the sox FO seeing this. major teams who figure to be in the playoff race is fortifying themselves. ......

I thought this was bigger initially but Latos has been pretty pedestrian to bad this year and Morse has been awful.

Yea it's definitely bigger in name that it will be in impact.

They want another starter and need a front line guy. This does nothing to take them out of the big fish. They have always needed a depth move and that is what Latos is. I presume this means one of their outfielders (at least) is on the move.

Morse has ben bad. Lagos was bad early, but has been pretty good last 5-7 starts.

Latos is a good move for them. He has pitched much better then his ERA would indicate.

I was going by ERA+, which he has an 85 of right now. Just a quick view to see how he was doing.

First reports are 3 minor league pitchers going to Miami.

If we're going to worry about Puig's last month or CarGo's last 28 at-bats, then the Dodgers are definitely paying attention to the June and July stats of Latos.

He's got at least 2 MPH of velocity back on his FB of late as well.

45.2 IP, 33 H, 15 ER, 9 BB, 43 K's, 2.96 ERA

BAA of .224 and .159

Last 7 starts. 6.5 innings per start. Allowing less than one baserunner per inning, which is always a good thing.

Could Marlins be a fit for LaRoche? He is someone they wanted during offseason.

Why, they aren't trying to compete this year?

They could try for next year and we could take on Prado to offset money. Heard Levine suggest us grabbing Prado as a guy who can be plugged in anywhere to give a guy a day off but also he can start.

If we're going for utility infielders, can we at least add one who's already familiar with the AL Central?

So basically what Bonifacio was supposed to do?

Odd that the Dodgers would trade for another outfielder when they have so many already. Latos makes sense but Morse?

Maybe the Marlins forced them to eat Morse's contract in order to get Latos? He could be a DFA special soon, LA is made of money.

That or it signals another deal on the way.
