July 30, 201510 yr QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 11:48 AM) I hope the Jays start to surge so we face the Yankees in the play-in game instead. I like our chances with them much better than against the Jays. Then we better get sweeping this weekend.
July 30, 201510 yr QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 09:46 AM) Crazy to think that the Jays are only 1/2 game in front of the Sox right now, and they just emptied their system for Tulo and Price. Albeit, Tulo will be there beyond 2015, but still pretty wild, and quite a gamble considering they likely won't catch the Yanks either way and will be relying on a 1 game playoff, at best. Now if the Sox get a bat it definitely cannot be a rental. Just no sense in trading our prospects for anything but a good 2 way player.
July 30, 201510 yr Author With the way these deals have been "completed" the past few day, not done til it's done. Bring it on Toronto!
July 30, 201510 yr QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 09:49 AM) Now if the Sox get a bat it definitely cannot be a rental. Just no sense in trading our prospects for anything but a good 2 way player. The one thing that would under all circumstances piss me off is if we gave up legit talent for a rental. I have no desire for that this year. If we give up talent, it needs to be someone we have around for at least another year (preferably longer).
July 30, 201510 yr QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 11:43 AM) Well that couldn't be any worse for us. I'd rather they get that versus Urias from LAD or McCullers + from Houston.
July 30, 201510 yr Stand pat or sell. The team should have played better sooner. This is f***ing ridiculous.
July 30, 201510 yr It's ok, Tigers will be above average again next year and trade all these guys away
July 30, 201510 yr Author QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 10:55 AM) Stand pat or sell. The team should have played better sooner. This is f***ing ridiculous. We didn't. Don't dwell on that. Let's be happy we're playing well and hitting everything in sight.
July 30, 201510 yr No Alford in the deal according to Buster. Edit: Bob Nightengale The #Tigers also get back Labourt and Boyd from #BlueJays Edited July 30, 201510 yr by Sockin
July 30, 201510 yr QUOTE (Sockin @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 11:57 AM) No Alford in the deal according to Buster. Wow, if they really only get Norris, I could live with that.
July 30, 201510 yr Jerry Crasnick @jcrasnick 27s27 seconds ago Boyd and Labourt are also in the David Price deal, source says. #BlueJays
July 30, 201510 yr Author @Ken_Rosenthal: Official: Price from #Tigers to #BlueJays for Norris, Labourt and Boyd.
July 30, 201510 yr Tigers get #1 prospect, #11, and #19 prospects in Jays system. Edited July 30, 201510 yr by SoxPride18
July 30, 201510 yr QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 12:00 PM) Tigers get #1 prospect, #11, and #19 prospects in Jays system. That's a good sign, overall I feel the price tags this deadline are cheaper than they should be. Hopefuly we can turn that into a bat for cheap as well.
July 30, 201510 yr Author QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 11:02 AM) That's a good sign, overall I feel the price tags this deadline are cheaper than they should be. Hopefuly we can turn that into a bat for cheap as well. I agree. Makes me happy because we're not moving Quintana for a bat.
July 30, 201510 yr That's still getting the Jays number 1 prospect + for 2 months of Price. A pretty good haul imo.
July 30, 201510 yr QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 12:06 PM) That's still getting the Jays number 1 prospect + for 2 months of Price. A pretty good haul imo. Yeah, I think they are getting a pretty damn good return for a rental player.
July 30, 201510 yr QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 12:08 PM) Yeah, I think they are getting a pretty damn good return for a rental player. To a point you're right but even insiders say they are shocked they got Price without including Alford (which is great news for us) but it's not just the price deal. You look at Cueto, Tulo, Hamels. I just wasn't wowed by the return by any of them. But anytime you give up your top prospect it's a lot to give up I guess.
July 30, 201510 yr Chances are we would never Face Toronto in a one game playoff.. unless Houston or LA collapse. That trade does help Toronto quite a bit.... however even with that they have 3 bad starters and 2 good ones with a suspect bull pen (though their bullpen era atm is similar to ours). I commend them on their efforts... it might pay off but their pitching is still weak. There defense is also at the bottom of the league. Edited July 30, 201510 yr by harkness
July 30, 201510 yr QUOTE (harkness @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 11:17 AM) Chances are we would never Face Toronto in a one game playoff.. unless Houston or LA collapse. Listening to Stone reading off the upcoming schedule definitely put a damper on things.
July 30, 201510 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 10:52 AM) I'd rather they get that versus Urias from LAD or McCullers + from Houston. McCullers can go to head to head with almost anyone already. No way they would trade him for even two months of Trout/Harper. Edited July 30, 201510 yr by caulfield12
