Half of the NL isn't even pretending to compete for next year

Are any AL teams even rebuilding? Maybe Oakland, but I would not be at all surprised if they were good next year. Meanwhile in the NL the Padres, Rockies, Braves, Phillies, Marlins, Reds and Brewers are in rebuilding mode or have little hope of contending. What a joke.

I wonder what the Sox could get for DRob.

I wonder the same. If the Sox were offered 2 good prospects for Robertson I'd probably pull the trigger.

Going into last off-season, Robertson is someone I really didn't want them to spend money on. But when they did, it was kind of like "well I hope he does good since he's here." Wasn't exactly thrilled and would rather have the extra money to spend.

The Boston prospects are still at least a year away, maybe 2 or 3.

I didn't mean improve the roster with just this deal. Mostly the freeing up money to spend in other spots (they've already been linked to Desmond who has potential to be a lot better than anyone they've trotted out there the past couple years).

The Braves are shopping Freddie Freeman https://t.co/WYpzvdFXSw

Wonder if the Sox would try.

Acquiring Freeman would push Abreu to DH. I'd love to get Freeman.

I'd offer LaRoche, Montas, Danish, and Hawkins.

That is a horrible deal for the Braves. Probably would take something like Anderson/Adams/Trey, maybe even more.

An exec of a team that's talked to the Reds says he's convinced Todd Frazier "is legitimately out there" to be traded for - for a big return

He had a bad 2nd half. I honestly wouldn't give up that much. 4.4 fWAR. Had a wRc+ of 114 and wOBA of 342 with 35 homers. He's going to be 30 years old in Fenruary and has 2 years left on his deal.

Yeah, the Reds are about to enter the cycle of rebuilding.

The age shift in baseball has begun.

The prime for players is now 25-30 as it was back when wool uniforms were in vogue through the cocaine craze of the late 80's

What is now being called rebuilding is simply teams realizing that players are declining sooner and youth needs to be in the MLB by the age of 24.

Frazier is declining in value and the Reds know that.

Can confirm @JeffPassan report that Leonys Martin and Tom Wilhelmsen are principals in #Rangers-#Mariners multi-player trade.

Rangers get OF James Jones and a prospect along with Wilhemson. Mariners get Anthony Bass along with Martin.

Win for the Rangers imo.

If we were solid at C, 3B, LF, RF, SS, pen and farm, it would be a nice cherry on top move.

But we aren't.
