Seems like a fun day to be a Rivals or sbnation web vendor.

Massive database failure, classic Rivals.

Phew

Dude, there was never a question. If you followed his recruiting even back when he was recruited to Paramus catholic you knew this was a done deal.

On HawkeyeReport.com publisher Tom Kakert’s message boards, cynical anger about the Hawkeyes’ recruiting has been replaced by, well, nothing much at all.

According to Rivals’ rankings, Iowa’s 2015 class averaged 2.71 stars per player. The 2016 class is just slightly better, at 2.83. Yet there seems to be a renewed confidence in the coaching staff after Iowa’s 12-0 regular season and first Rose Bowl appearance in 25 years.

That wasn’t the case in the summer, when Iowa nabbed most of its expected class of 25 recruits in a commitment binge.

“The criticisms of this class in July and August are no longer being made in January and February,” Kakert said. “That’s in large part because of 12-0.”

Overall, recruiting websites are ranking Iowa's class around 40th nationally and seventh or eighth in the Big Ten Conference. That's an upgrade from the Class of 2015. But as we've learned over the last 17 years, Iowa under Kirk Ferentz doesn't take its recruiting lead from star ratings.

Fwiw, the last time Iowa had a bunch of 4 and some 5 star guys from Chicagoland, it turned out to be a complete disaster. The only one who turned out halfway decent was TE Anthony Moeaki. Most of the guys in this class were already committed before Iowa got off to that 12-0 start. If they can continue to build on it again this year, they'll definitely be in some a few more 4 and 5 star type players, but it has never been Ferentz's style.

They already have at least one for next year. Maybe the most highly ranked football recruit in school history.

AS long as Iowa is in the BIG West they have a damn good shot at the division, especially with easy crossover years.

Not having great recruiters at Wisconsin and Nebraska is huge.

Not to mention Illinois and Minnesota going in the tank...and Purdue used to give Iowa trouble as well in their better days. And finally Iowa State has been in turmoil.

Confluence of favorable factors.

Still, ND always looms in the Midwest, and now Michigan again.

Sounds like Nathan Stanley from WI has a similar profile to Brad Banks...but a bit more balanced between running and throwing.

Also won battle for MI offensive lineman Alaric Jackson. Desmond King staying has really helped in Detroit supposedly.

Michigan really isnt recruiting much in the midwest yet, zero kids from Ohio which is really weird.

“To be the man, you've got to beat the man, and right now, the University of Michigan, you are the man,” said Flair,

Pretty sure Flair has CTE, first he talked about calling a dead guy, then he considers a 3rd place team "the man."

Cte? You mean he hasn't been sober in 40 years.

Is that what it is? The things coming out of his mouth were gibberish

Holy f***, OSU has 45 freshman suiting up this fall. Jesus.

Is it just me, or do most of these big recruits look like they're in their early 20s?

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 3, 2016 -> 10:30 AM)
That's adorable.

Rumor Gary was seen with a Clemson shirt on at ESPN. No clue if that is BS.

I heard Shaun Livingston wore an Illinois shirt at school yesterday.

I'm about 35 and most of them grow beards, and I still cannot.

Glad I'm not alone.

Rumors that Damonte Williams (Frank Williams son) has intentions to commit to Illinois. However, with Groce's future up in the air, making him think twice.

Jordan Goodwin got an Indiana offer. Illinois offered awhile ago. He's just a junior, like Williams and is so explosive. Hope he grows a few more inches though.

Really really want Goodwin, plus he's good friends with Tilmon.

Tilmon the kid from LaLumiere? I got to see them earlier this year. They were incredible.
