April 5, 20169 yr QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 08:50 AM) Cubs fans are awful They've already won the WS after winning one game.
April 5, 20169 yr Author QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 10:14 AM) They've already won the WS after winning one game. They had already decided that after the last out of the playoffs last year.
April 5, 20169 yr QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 06:40 AM) Is Jake some kind of machine? Will he ever come back down to life? It isn't like he wasn't at one point one of the best prospects in all of baseball. If he comes back down to earth, it will be because of injuries or fatigue (due to recent innings loads) not a lack of talent. When you watch him, this isn't a guy getting a way with smoke and mirrors, this guy is nasty. Easily one of the best in the game and he's really done it for two years now. If it was one year, sure, you could to some extent call it a fluke and expect some regression but he's done nothing but get better every single year since he's put on a Cub uniform.
April 5, 20169 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 08:16 AM) They had already decided that after the last out of the playoffs last year. Honestly, maybe its because I live far away, but most every Cub fan I talk to out here this off-season has ever given any delusions that they are going to win the series. They all understand that winning the series involves some luck, the ultimate goal is really reaching the playoffs and than from there, you see what happens. They also are nothing but worried of collapses given their past. Also, on paper, I see no reason not to have the Cubs as one of the frontrunners to win the series. They were a really good team last year, who should get better due to growth from young players, along with some major acquisitions, most notably Heyward who is beloved by statisticians everywhere.

April 5, 20169 yr I saw one Cubs fan on Facebook yesterday afternoon (before the Cubs even played a single game) trash-talking Cardinals fans because the Cubs were technically ahead in the standings.

LOL so true. That is the one thing that really makes me think it wont end well for them. They are just too sure that it is almost ALL a formality until game seven of the WS when "fate" kicks in and they finally get their WS. They are only worried about luck as the final domino to fall at the end of this season. I think they will eventually win a world series with this core but I think its going to be in a season that they arent the favorite and dont have a huge bulls eye on their backs.
April 8, 20169 yr QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 09:27 PM) Fowler just took out the knees of Schwarber. That replay looked bad. His leg may have bent the wrong way.
April 8, 20169 yr Author QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 09:27 PM) Fowler just took out the knees of Schwarber. Yeah they are apparently carting him off of the field. That is not good at all.
April 8, 20169 yr Author Wes Farrington, SPT @WFarringtonSPT @CubsDen looked like they were checking for femur fracture or possibly knee ligament integrity. Femur was point of contact w/ Dex
April 8, 20169 yr This Cubs offense is gonna destroy mediocre and s***ty pitching. The question will be can they beat good pitching in the playoffs like they couldn't last year.
