The 10 day forecast looks like garbage in every place Sox play. May have a lot of rainouts.

Yahoo weather much more pessimistic, though the sox just emailed me it would be sunny and 60s for next week.

If he died Wednesday, the funeral will probably be Monday or Tuesday. I hope he doesn't think of coming back until Wednesday at the earliest. To lose one's dad is horrific and I'm just assuming they were very close. Rest in peace. Don't even think about baseball for a week.

I got tix for 5 De Mayo so I've been keeping up with the weather, next week better be nice crowds. Tuesday and Saturday highs in the low 70's!

*Man loses father*

Fan response: S***! We have to use a nother player for 3 days. UGHGHG.

I hope he gets some family time.

this...you'd hope it'd put things in perspective a little...but no.

Heart goes out for Robertson....sorry to hear it.

RIP to his dad.

Who do you guys think the closer will be while he's away? Jones seems like the most likely candidate, but I wouldn't mind Albers getting a shot either.

Thought I read it's his father-in-law

Probably Jones. Robin could go to Petricka too if he doesn't want to upset the rest of the pen's pecking order.

It's possible. I only based what I said on a picture the Sox twitter replied to of him standing next to an older guy. Apologies for the misinformation if this is the case.

Do we have to use an option on Sanchez?

They already used it when he went to Charlotte to start the season.

Petricka and Putnam have the stones to close.

Jones certainly has the stuff to close; but he really hasn't done it.

Also, what are the plans for Sanchez?

Seriously. This was my absolute first thought when reading this thread (about how uncompassionate some people are). Baseball players are people first. Condolences to the Robertson family.

Agreed. Total bit.hing crowd in full force

Thanks for clarifying. I actually think a father in law situation could even be worse on a husband depending on how his wife is handling it. I would think he should be there for every single bit of the way just as if it was his own dad, just to support his wife.

Well that sucks for everyone. My condolences to the Robertson family. Losing a parent in your late 20s or early 30s sucks. I speak from experience. Something very jarring about a life ended (most likely) before even reaching 60.

Yeah, I believe it's his father-in-law that passed away a few days ago. Services are today and tomorrow from what I read.

This will give a chance for a few to step up

Considering Jones was in line to close in 2014 before his injury, I'm gonna guess he has first stab.

Add to that he is the primary set up guy too.

Well s***.

I guess we'll get a look at Nate Jones being closer. How long is the bereavement list? 3 days?

Probably not tonight with Danks pitching.

Wonder what made him say that

He's not stupid.

Also the Sox literally have no need for him. At best, DH but how much does AJ even have in the tank?

I'd take A.J. even at this point over Avila from an offensive standpoint for sure.

He and Ventura did not get along in their 1 year together. The Sox have no need for AJ.
