My fiancée and I are looking for a place to go to for a 4 night-3 day trip after we get married (probably May 11th-15th) that isn't going to be super expensive. We want to go to a beach city that has plenty to do (attractions, shopping, restaurants, nice beach), any suggestions?

I assume since it's in May that you don't want to be in the Midwest. Unfortunately May is kind of rough, it's really early in the season and a lot of bodies of water will still be months away from warming up. You're going to have to go pretty far south if you want real swimming.

Me and the wife just went to Puerto Rico last year around this time and it was pretty cheap. Really enjoyed it.

Check out ncl.com. They now have 4 day cruises to the Bahamas that are all-inclusive, including booze. It may not be what you're looking for but it's Florida and the Bahamas tied in one and the food and alcohol are included. I don't believe any other cruise line does all inclusive anything except NCL to the Bahamas.

If not, try Clearwater/St. Pete in FL.

Puerto Rico is fantastic. I've been there twice including once for our wedding/honeymoon. The first time, we stayed here on the west side of the island. It was a little bit of a drive from San Juan, but there was plenty to do in the area(s) around there.

Our wedding was at the Marriott in San Juan. I'd definitely check out Old San Juan and the old Spanish fort if you go.

Our honeymoon was on Vieques at this hotel. You've got to take a little puddle jumper from San Juan to get here, but it's very secluded and minimally developed island with gorgeous, pristine beaches.

One thing to keep in mind with any Caribbean or Central American travel right now though is Zika if you're thinking about having children.

Good point. Not planning on it for a few years but still something to worry about.

I will check out the ones you included, probably will be out of the price point we are wanting to spend right now but could be good for our actual honeymoon.

Well that doesn't sound great lol.

Unfortnately I think Puerto Rico will probably be out of our price range. Trying to find an all-inclusive place

If price is what you are worried about, food in Mexico is very cheap (if you are looking for the good, authentic stuff). Another option is staying in Tulum, it's unbelievable there. Head into downtown for all types of great food for cheap.

Just booked a trip to Monte Carlo on the French Riviera over our honeymoon at the end of April.

I'm going to surprise my wife on her birthday on Christmas Eve.

Anyone ever been?

I've got friends who live in Luxembourg and travel to France a ton, I'll ask and see if they've been there. I believe they've been to Nice, not sure on Monte Carlo specifically.

Talked to my friend, he said definitely go in the casino but make sure you wear something nice, a lot of tourists don't realize they have a strict dress code to get into the nicer parts of the casino.

Other than that, he said check out the palace, walk around the yachts, and do a short trip to Monaco. Some people found it cool to get their passport stamped there, but that probably depends on your interests. FYI, Monaco is kind of boring as no one really lives there, but it is really beautiful.

Thanks Russ. I've got a lot of research to do still to figure out how to fill all our days, but I'm sure that won't be too difficult. We can always leave the French Riviera for few days if need be.

Edit: So you convinced me...I decided to switch things up and only stay 3 nights in Monte Carlo. Then we'll heading through Italy and Switzerland for a few nights, before heading back to Nice.

Thanks for the insight, Russ!

Where in Switzerland and Italy? I've been to Italy a lot and also Zurich in Switzerland, may be able to offer some advice there.

Going to head north from Monte Carlo probably to Genoa and then Milan, then settle in Lugano, Switzerland for a few evenings. Then head back down to Nice for a night before heading home.

Just booked my flight to Vegas for $131 round trip out of Chicago at the end of July.

Have been stressing about how much this trip (bachelor party, I'm best man) would cost me, but this is a huge relief now that prices have come down. Just 2 weeks ago the cheapest I saw were $418 on Spirit Airlines both ways, red-eye flights. Now, there are a handful under $150. I realize booking 6 months early is....early, but how much cheaper could it have gone? $115? I am just glad I have it out of the way and don't have to stress out about price/airline/flight times.

And I paid the extra $15 to have the ability to cancel my flight and trip insurance and ability to pick my seat, and all that.

That is a very good price. I can't see it dropping much more than that.

I checked again today, and the cheapest tickets through American Airlines now are $430. So I think I did well. Groom thinks we can get our AirBNB place at the MGM for about $120 a person for the 3 nights. So we are talking under $300 for my flight + board, with access to MGM pools.

My stress about this has changed to excitement, for sure.

I went to Vegas in early October for a bachelor party. Was a great time. I recommend getting a cabana at a pool (any pool but we were at the Flamingo). Also, can you link me to where you saw cheap tickets for Vegas? Every time I look, it's around $450 round trip like you said. Thanks.
