June 11, 20169 yr QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 11, 2016 -> 09:29 AM) Wonder if we'll finally take some HS talent I doubt we will take very many I don't think we are getting a discount on any of our first 3 picks (well at least not much of one) and Curbelo will almost certainly be an above slot guy. I'd anticipate one above slot high school guy in the first 4 or 5 rounds today then it will be almost all college players until they take a few flyers on high school players late. I could be completely wrong but that is about what I would expect and would be consistent with recent Sox drafts.

June 11, 20169 yr QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 11, 2016 -> 11:26 AM) 2-10 with a 4.65 ERA as a starter this year. 1.46 WHIP, 6.4 k/9. He was really good out of the bullpen his first two years at Washington St. and was apparently good out of the bullpen in the Cape Cod league as well. Stuff probably just doesn't hold as a starter.
June 11, 20169 yr Sox take a HS C Michael Hickman in the 13th round. http://www.crawfishboxes.com/2015/6/1/8701...akes-hs-katy-tx JJ Cooper @jjcoop36 4m4 minutes ago White Sox pick Michael Hickman was a dude last year as well. Interesting pick.
June 11, 20169 yr That's the Astros' site, right? Hostetler said they would focus on players with unique or standout "plus tools" as well as "baseball players," so that means you should see improve in the overall quality of play in the minor league teams (with a focus on collegiate hitters), even if not all of those players are going to make it onto the prospect lists.
June 11, 20169 yr http://www.nmnathletics.com/fls/27000/lega...DB_OEM_ID=27000 Mitch Roman in the 11th, sorry. Decent stats.

Interesting pick. What his his college commitment? Clear that there is a change in draft philosophy regarding college players and those with some baseball acumen.
June 11, 20169 yr They are doing 5 rounds per hour, which means they'll be at this until 7 at the current rate. My goodness.
June 11, 20169 yr Wait. The same Michael Hickman...? [/quote Yes. Took him in 36th last year. Taken out of JUCO this time.
June 11, 20169 yr QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 11, 2016 -> 02:17 PM) Yes. Took him in 36th last year. Taken out of JUCO this time. Ah. Didn't see it was out of JuCo, so got confused. That'd be a nice get if he signs.
June 11, 20169 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 11, 2016 -> 02:55 PM) 30th round pick is from Plainfield, Il. Definitely a Cubs family They are Cubs fans lol. I was actually teammates with Pat Cashman's older brother in college. Edited June 11, 20169 yr by SoxPride18
June 11, 20169 yr Author How much information is out there about the high school kid Zach Farrar they took in round 26? When I quickly looked him up, it looks like he is a big time football player with big D1 offers. Is this our bonus baby for this year?

June 12, 20169 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 11, 2016 -> 06:40 PM) Wasn't Michael Hickman in the ACE program? Looks like he is from Texas. Blake Hickman from last year was in ACE
June 12, 20169 yr Author QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 11, 2016 -> 07:26 PM) Looks like he is from Texas. Blake Hickman from last year was in ACE That's right. Thanks for fixing that. For the FS people out there, any of the late HS picks worth being excited about? I know we drafted our future grounds keeper in the 31st round, but other than that?
