  1. Has anyone been able to find a full recording of Hahn's presser? I can only find snippets. It was supposedly 45 mins long...would love to hear the whole thing.
  2. Age comment is a little off base, but the rest of the points are spot on.
  3. It’s so dumb that these full interviews are never available. Makes zero sense to me.
  4. Right. I want pretty much nothing to do with Ozuna unless his market collapses.
  5. Odorizzi is a pretty poor fit to make 15 starts at the Cell. He's also obviously (as you said) going to be looking for a longer term deal if he rejects the QO. But, Odorizzo, Abreu and Smith seem like the guys that could get just hammered in the market with a QO attached this offseason. I ultimately think he takes the 1 year deal and stays with the Twins, or works out a longer term deal to stay with the Twins. There is mutual interest there.
  6. Yep, and seems doable. Just need to win the Grandal bidding.
  7. Pretty much any scenario that involves Grandal and Wheeler/Ryu (or better) is going to get an A++ from me.
  8. Both would be home runs, but at least with #2 it seems "somewhat" realistic. Replace Hamels with say Alex Wood and Will Smith with say Chris Martin, and maybe you have something that could actually happen. 2020 payroll would be in the $130M range in that scenario.
  9. Yah it would. I am hoping for much bigger things than that, but honestly if that is the worst case scenario, I'd take it. At least all future flexibility is still open, and that team, while rather unexciting, would probably be good enough to be around contention in the ALC. I'd honestly prefer that scenerio to overpaying Puig/Castellanos and Odorizzi on longer term deals, as an example. Those are the moves that can legitimately hamstring the future flexibility of the team with average players being paid like stars. At least Calhoun, Encarncaion, and backend SP are all on 1 year deals, and a 2/$30M type deal for Kuechel isn't going to kill you at all. To be frank, outside of Grandal and Wheeler (and obviously the top 3 FA), and to a lesser extent Ryu and Bumgarner, I either have legitimate concerns or minimal interest in giving long term deals of $15M+ AAV to any of the FAs.
  10. Thing is, if the Sox sign another 1 year SP (as we should expect), we probably don't need Ryu for 180 IP+. Obviously it would be nice, but at some point Kopech gets the kid gloves off and Rodon returns, things get a little crowded. We have enough options that Ryu spending his annual DL trip or two isn't going to cripple to rotation.
  11. If Ryu goes for anything close to the 2/$32M projection from FG, the Sox should be all over it. I'd honestly prefer that to 5/$100M for Wheeler.
  12. I like Tauchman, but he's already almost 30, has less than 400 MLB PA, doesn't have much a pedigree (though he was always pretty good in the minors). He also has extreme reverse splits. He's a lefty and here are his career splits: vs. RHP: .228/.314/.444 (261 PA) vs. LHP: .322/.417/.460 (104 PA) Your proposed package seems like a lot. Tauchman just feels like a flash in the pan guy. He was pretty darn good for the Yankees, but I'd be far from surprised if that was his most productive MLB season.
  13. If the Sox were willing to do 2/40 or 3/50, the deal would be signed already.
  14. The Sox need left handed hitters, unless you want an everyday lineup with 8 righties and 1 switch hitter. The Sox also need an above average defensive RF. Neither Mancini or Castellanos make much sense. At least one is a FA and will only cost money.
  15. I’d move those guys for a RF in a second.
  16. Ehhh, I don’t think it’s necessarily about trades.
  17. Just seems like there are better ways to allocate the $250M. Don’t get me wrong - Rendon is a stud and I’d love to have him. But we have a budding star at 3B and a super duper interesting MLB ready 2B that legitimately oozes with all the things this team has sorely lacked FOR YEARS. I really don’t want to trade Madrigal.
  18. Does he want to play 2B? Otherwise it’s a non starter for me, and likely the Sox. They aren’t going to jerk Moncada around again. Moncada is an elite defensive 3B. Leave him alone.
  19. I don’t think that has any impact whatsoever on years and dollars Sox would be willing to go. I also think Puig is like Plan H at best for the Sox.
  20. Odorizzi is nuts if he rejects the QO.
  21. 1/$10M on Puig and I could shrug and get behind it. 3/$30M is crazy.
  22. Yah, it is kind of wild. But also goes to show you that taking the ball every 5th day and going out there and just giving 180 IP of 5.0 FIP stuff throughout the year is still very valuable. Plus, when you're a guy like Reynaldo that flashes TOR stuff, the value is there. If the Sox were actively looking to move Reynaldo (they aren't), pretty much every club would be interested.
  23. The ONLY reason to bet on Mazara is because there really aren't m(any) great options, he'll be financially cheap, most likely cheap to acquire and there still is some upside there. He's probably between like 8-10 on my somewhat realistic RF list, but I'd prefer they roll the dice on him as opposed to having Leury Garcia/other internal options be the everyday RF. And I like Leury, but it will be nice to have Leury be the supersub/2 week injury replacement he should be and not an everyday regular. If you could get Mazara in late February for say Fulmer + org fill in, if a bunch of other RF options didn't work out, I'd probably do it.
