Keuchel to Sox, 3 years, 55.55 million; 4th year team option
Again, I said OD rotation. Kopech won’t be in the Sox OD rotation either. Obviously Pineda will factor into their rotation come late May, and the Twins may decide to get Graterol some starts next summer. But none of that changes the fact that the Twins rotation is a clusterfuck, especially early in then season, with minimal means left to fix it. I’d be shocked if they were able to sign Ryu.

Edwin Encarnacion
I am definitely not just going to trade McCann to save $5.4M. If someone wants to give us something real for him, sure. But I’d rather keep him than trading for a lottery ticket that we’ll never hear from after 2020.

I said OD. Pineda is suspended for 25% of the season, and they’re never going to start a guy (graterol) that has eclipsed 100 innings once in the OD rotation.

I don’t want to trade 4 years of Lopez plus Collins for 2 years of Gray. Not saying it’s a horrible proposal, just not really looking to trade Lopez at his lowest.

Berrios, Odorizzi, Lewis Thorpe, Randy Dobnak and Devin Smeltzer isn’t striking fear in anyone.

Hats off to the Front Office
I mean 160 innings in both 21 and 22 isn’t a given. If he spends any time any time on the DL either season it gets interesting. I wouldn’t just assume the 4th year is vesting.

Edwin Encarnacion
Exactly. I’m not going to complain if Sox move Collins and get good value out of him. But just punting him would be so silly.

Edwin Encarnacion
This I agree with. And I too am perfectly fine rolling with Collins and perhaps add a platoon RF with Mazara instead. But where is Collins gonna play long term? With Abreu locked up, Grandal signed and Vaughn at worst a mid 2021 arrival barring injury, he’s got no where to play. So if they decide to go the EE route, for that reason it makes a little sense. I would rather keep Collins in the org as opposed to trading him, though.

Remaining Wish List
Leury is going to Mazaras platoon mate most of the time once Robert and Madrigal are up. Not Engel.

Edwin Encarnacion
Hope so. Or in a trade for a real piece. I really don’t want to just give up on Collins. He provides a lot of things this lineup could use. I don’t hate letting him start in AAA, but I definitely wouldn’t like just punting him off for a meh reliever.

What is a realistic payroll ceiling for the sox?
Also still should be plenty of space to add a RP, a DH if they decide to go that route and 2B fill-in/bench piece for 2020.

What is a realistic payroll ceiling for the sox?
Just did the math, were at $108M for 2020. Should have about $40M off the books for 2021 in Colome, McCann, Herrera, Leury, Gio Gonzalez and Mazara. Just going to assume Mazara is a non tender until he proves otherwise. Even with Gio, Moncada and Lopez entering arb in 21, there should be plenty of payroll space for the final long term piece in RF.

Remaining Wish List
Yah was moreso considering him as 2B fillin until Madrigal arrives. Could play some 3B on Moncada days off. Wouldn’t really use him in RF much. Leury is who I’d have in RF against LHP.

Grandal is a stud man. Sox weren’t going to sign Machado, Cole and Betts so I’m not sure what you were expecting.

Remaining Wish List
Still think Gennett and Dietrich make sense. Zobrist maybe.

Remaining Wish List
He was consistently not good with the bat. I’ll give him that. i would be surprised if Mendick is on OD roster.

40 man now fill. Imagine Zavala is next on the chopping block.

Remaining Wish List
About $110M give or take a mill.

I also agree on Collins. I get it kind of looks like a black hole right now, and I don't HATE the idea of just sending Collins to AAA if you have EE around, but you should be able to find a bat midseason for minimal cost if Collins flops. I still really like the Grandal/Collins/McCann/Abreu C/DH/1B combo. I don't see the reason to panic and go away from that. Though, like I said, having someone like EE around for a cheap 1 year deal is hard to just ignore.

Remaining Wish List
And sit Abreu or Grandal? Grandal can't catch 150 games. I am all for improving team defense, but any scenario where Adam Engel is getting regular starts withOUT multiple injuries is not a scenario I want to get behind.
-
Remaining Wish List
I like the way the lineup looks with EE and I cannot deny he'd be nice to have around. But he still makes things crowded. Grandal should be at 1B/DH against LHP when McCann starts, and Abreu should be in the lineup against LHP. At some point you're sitting really good sticks because they have no where to play. Someone who could play RF would be ideal.

Keuchel to Sox, 3 years, 55.55 million; 4th year team option
Trade away assets. Twins are in a tough spot. I don't think they had a ton of interest in Keuchel, but they're quite simply running out of options.

I said anything 3/$55M or less and I’d be pleased. I am in fact pleased. This is a nice signing and hopefully we can get solid mid rotation work out of him for at least 2020-2021. Nice deal Sox!

Successful Plan B; What’s Next?
Hope it’s true. Not a huge Keuchel guy, but 3/$55M or less and I’d be pretty pleased.
