I don't think those guys are getting two years. Disagree all you'd like on Kopech - it is what is going to happen, so best to prepare yourself. The guy has a limited amount of innings he'll be able to pitch in 2020, and I'd rather them occur from June-September than April-July. Getting the year back is gravy.

Mazara isn't a plus RF by any means, but he's not awful. Merely average, or slightly below. The narrative that he is awful out there has a been a bit overblown. Leury and Engel are going to be his platoonmates anyway.
-
I think the pen is mostly set. Maybe 1 signing, but not really room for much else. Colome, Bummer, Fry, Herrera, Marshall, and Cordero are all mostly set. Hamilton, Burdi, Foster, Gurrerro, Ruiz, and Fulmer and battling for the last spot. I think Sox expect Hamilton and Burdi to be in the pen for most of the season. Also worth noting that Fulmer, Cordero, and Guerrero are all out of options.

Eno Sarris Biggest Remaining MLB Needs And How To Fill Them - CWS

I am not sure if Walker will be an milb guy, but I'd have to imagine the Sox will be a pretty popular choice among SP for milb deals. They look at the rotation and see two giant openings on a young team with a chance to develop. Seems like a good opportunity. -
Covey will not be starting games for the White Sox unless people get injured. I promise you. Wost case, they'll sign 2 of Gio Gonzalez, Alex Wood, Julio Tehran, Collin McHugh, Nova, or Smyly before they give Covey any 2020 starts.

4/$80M is scary. I am sure that would get it done, but if the Sox were willing to go there, he'd have signed by now. -
I think the Sox simply don’t want Collins as the primary backup, so they’re not going to trade McCann for scraps just because they signed Grandal. McCann has minimal trade value, so why not just keep him instead of acquiring a piece that will never matter? Grandal spending more time than he had at DH and 1B could help him stay fresh late in the year when he’s struggled.
-
I don’t really see the fit either, but I certainly would take him in RF over Mazara defensively. Mazara could theoretically DH. Don’t really see the fit with Benintendi either, tho I guess I’d you’re forcing me to take Price and cash id take him.
-
Price + $40M + JBJ for fringe 40 man filler sounds about right. Still insane to even mention Madrigal or Vaughn in that conversation.
-
Vaughn and Madrigal should be a good enough package to acquire pretty much any player the Sox could want. Even discussing them in connection with David Price is insulting.
-
Vaughn I could trade, but certainly not for David Price. Madrigal should be going nowhere.

Crickets. Classic. What a fuckin' troll. Finally doing what I should have done when he returned a couple weeks ago.....IGNORE. Peace, Cubs fan.

So you want to take the bet I laid out or not? If you're so confident, its easy money.
-
The White Sox were tanking last year you dipshit. So I take it you don't want to take the bet?
-
I said I hope they'd explore signing Springer. I didn't say I believe they'd sign Springer. Reading comprehension is important. Want to put some money where your mouth is? If Mazara accumulates under 1.0 fWAR in 2020, he will not be on the 2021 roster. If he is under 1 fWAR in 2020 and he is on the OD 2021 roster, you win. If he accumulates less than 1 fWAR and is NOT on the OD 2021 roster, I win.
-
JFC. You are so gd obtuse. The guy is arb eligible. He can be non-tendered for $0 after next season. The only chance Mazara is on the 2021 roster is if he has a great 2020. Look at like a 1 year deal with a team option. IT IS NOT A TWO YEAR DEAL. I know you're just trolling me, but gd, you're annoying.
-
I'd hammer the over on 5/$110, and I don't think Joc is a fair comp for Springer at all. But yes, I would love Springer on the Sox and I think he is the perfect fit. Thousands of times better than Ozuna and Castellanos, and the Sox (seemingly) unwilling to go after those guys unless its cheap gives me hope that they'll seriously explore Springer next offseason.
-
Sounds about right. I did the math a few weeks ago, but didn't care to do it again. Remember it being May 20 something tho.
-
I'd be very surprised if the Twins just put Graterol in their OD starting rotation. He's going to pitch less major league innings than Michael Kopech in 2020! He's an option I guess, but if they'd probably have to shut him down middle of the summer. They're not going from 60 IP to 175+ in one season with their top pitching prospect.
-
Not really. Odoroizzi and Berrios. Pineda suspended for 40 games. Graterol coming off a 61 inning season, never thrown more than 102 innings in a season. They're arguably in a worse spot than the Sox. If you consider the fact that they're actually in the middle of their contention window, and that they're best assets are already getting expensive or nearing FA, there is quite a bit more pressure on them to improve their staff than the Sox.
-
I think its closer to mid May.
-
Jon Rauch never had a season over 1.7 fWAR...next highest was 0.9. Lucas just had a season of 5.1 fWAR. So try again.
-
Lol, there is a zero percent chance the Sox are done in FA and I put the chances at them signing either Castellanos or Ozuna as under 5%.
-
What happened in 1998-2001 is completely irrelevant to now. I was between 8-11 years old when this occurred, and while I was a huge Sox fan, I don't remember exactly how touted as prospects these guys were and don't really care to look back as its completely irrelevant. That being said, Gioltio was at a time the best prospect in baseball. Kopech and Cease both were as recently as 6 months ago both top 5ish SP prospects in the game. Lopez was also a big time prospect. Plus, all of these guys have already pitched in the big leagues, some for multiple years. This isn't projecting an 18 year old kid in A ball. Projecting 40-50% flop rate on these guys is insanely pessimistic.
