Not finalized, but should happen pretty soon. Very interested in the Mets return, as Familia has very similar performance and contract situation to Soria.

This should good give us a good sense of the reliever market.  I’ve been skimming through an A’s board and they generally seem a little worried about the potential price.  At first glance it does seem like it may be a bit of a seller’s market this year.

Soria has been pretty similar in terms of performance. The option is expensive but he is a legit back of the pen option. I didn't think we'd be getting a top 100 guy or anything, but the A's have a pretty good farm and the Mets are also getting INT money. I would expect the Sox are also willing to eat some of Soria's pay to get a better prospect, although it takes two to tango in that respect.

The difference between what the Padres got and the Mets got, for pitchers who are not that dissimilar in production, is just stunning, even factoring in the control

That international money must've been very important to them.

Good to see Oakland trying to compete, although it may not last long.

Oakland is definitely here to stay. Billy Beane and company have quietly built one of the best young cores in all of baseball with Olson, Chapman, Manaea, Trienen, Baretto, Fowler. They’re also have more talent coming in Puk (Who figures to be a big partner of their rotation this year before TJS) and Luzardo.

The Oakland A’s buying at the deadline is great for baseball.

Pretty weak return in my opinion. Surprised they couldn't squeeze more in a deal.

That's the consensus across the industry. Though many attribute it to the current Met's circus organization. Passan had a good piece on it today. Rosenthal was even tweeting about rival executives being upset that the Mets didn't get back to them on Familia with a chance to up their offers compared to what Oakland had on the table.

And Baretto and Fowler aren't even hitting yet.

Trienen's an older pitcher who was part of the Madsen/Doolittle package and as soon as he hits Oakland, he's better than both of them.
