Sandlin called up to start, Rock sent down to work on himself
Yeah, the whole problem there is he has never been able to "keep it together" for any extended period of time for a while now.

Sandlin called up to start, Rock sent down to work on himself
Now that you mention it... No, the point was that you need several pitches in order to start, so a GM that at least I respect thought he had that in him. So perhaps he does have secondaries so that he can be an effective reliever.

Heat would be fun with Giannis there now.

6/30/2026 - Sox @ Orioles, game 2, 5:35 CDT - Fedde v. Gibson
Tribe have been playing alright and the Twins are playing decent and the Sox are playing alright and the Tigers are playing alright. @CaliSoxFanViaSWside had a good post last night basically entire central other than Royals been .500 last two weeks. It would be nice to open up a little gap before the weekend, agreed.

You think the Sox are going to convert him to a starter this season?

Sandlin called up to start, Rock sent down to work on himself
Yea I think that was it. Now he is just another guy in that respect

Sandlin called up to start, Rock sent down to work on himself
Wasn't he one of the first guys that could pump 100 fairly regularly? That's what I remember of that era.

Hopefully we win and Rangers win. Get some distance for any weird stuff.

Sandlin called up to start, Rock sent down to work on himself
I looked at his stats and did a double take because I have a weird memory of him being lockdown in St. Louis, but I look at his numbers and it doesn’t really appear to be the case

Will Venable's Managing
Seems like Will is getting better at knowing when to take out the starter. Earlier in the year he probably would have let Burke pitch to Beavers

Sandlin called up to start, Rock sent down to work on himself
There was a buzz right after the trade, where writers opined about Hicks getting back to his glory days, and in 8 seasons, he's had two stints of under 30 IP where he stayed around a baserunner an inning. Everything else has been walk city.

I'm oddly optimistic on Hicks. Sometimes it takes some lowered expectations and the right role for a bullpen guy to thrive. We'll see how it shakes out. Sounds crazy but it's 50/50 if I'd prefer Hicks or Seranthony in a close 7th inning assuming Taylor and Newcomb are not available or being saved for the 8th and 9th.

I guess the thread that I'm hanging on, thin as it may be, is that the Giants signed him expressly to start. And that was when the Giants were run by Zaidi, who was pretty seasoned FO guy. So maybe there's something there.

Could Quero get us someone? What about Jackson Ferris? Two prospects with dimmishing shine.. Unless you think he's got the YIPS.

season high water of mark of 6 over .500 in reach tonight. Be nice to take this series and then try and win 2 of the remaining 4 for a positive trip.

A rare trade but one that might make sense especially if Roch is the guy.

With the Dodgers willing to trade some of their big time prospects for middle infield or catching prospects, it will be interesting to see if Bonemer would be a potential flip for a true outfield prospect like Sirota.

Sandlin called up to start, Rock sent down to work on himself
I mean, Hicks never had problems hitting 100. He just doesn’t have good secondary pitches and as such his heat gets lit up. he never really has been very good, just a throw hard guy

Sending out 10 expected WAR at pre arb prices to get Chapman and Gray is stupid. We'd be on the hook for something like 30 million including the Gray buyout, and Chapman has a 15 million dollar option that I believe according to spotrac is guaranteed as long as he passes a physical at the end of the year. For taking on all that salary relative to the performance we should be giving up a couple lotto tickets and Adams, not including Carlson and Fauske.

I know everyone is saying Warriors - but I'm going to throw out Cleveland and Heat as well.

Decent chance that situation improves over the next month. Hicks hit 100 several times on Sunday. If he could keep it together (which I realize he hasn’t in ages), he’d be a huge boost. Murphy has some stuff and is effective when he doesn’t walk the world. Lately the BBs have been in check. Overall, the Sox have done a good job with depth…both in assembling it and using it. Still a couple of putative major league relievers in Charlotte (Palette, e.g.)

Unless Jerry is insisting on them picking up these contracts, that is an absurd price. I feel like as perennial sellers for the last few years, we always see the rumors about prices, and then for guys who aren't top tier guys, we always end up disappointed.
