Doyle has been better as of late but Adams would have actually helped us for this season and potentially going forward for 6 years. Doyle could be a Sox for 3 more seasons but Getz could have likely had him for a song in the offseason. The Castillo and Doyle trades made the team worse for this season and likely the future.

Outside of Fedde, what injuries do we have? They've been managing Martin's calf situation all year. They didn't push it because of the field being such a mess with the weather. Burke has refound his form as well.

It appears the Sox pitching staff as a whole is about as healthy as they were heading into the playoffs in 2000 and of course everyone knows the situation in 2020.

Btw, if he's healthy enough, and apparently the Sox pulled Fedde because the knee was causing him a fair amount of discomfort, I have no issue with him starting game one of the wild card series.

I don't have an issue with Montgomery's strike outs. Just want him to take more walks. Have said it before and I'll say it again, but if he turns into Adam Dunn 2.0, I'll be very happy. Adam Dunn would routinely hit triple digits in both walks and Ks.

Colson's just not MLB material. He peaked at AA. He has just one big looping swing and it's beautiful when pitchers occasionally screw up and he's lost when they don't. Pitchers just eating him up. When was the last time, if ever, he purposely lined a hit to LF. He can't.

Then I think it is disingenuous for some people to rag on Montgomery and others for striking out 200 times a year. But this of course explains the Sox poor lack of situational hitting.

I think that was the win before we clinched. We clinched in that game where Donaldson got tossed as he was crossing home plate on a homer.

I don't mind Chase (and others) swinging from their heels up in the count and trying to do damage. I DO mind the lack of baseball awareness he shows sometimes. Up 3-1 with the basses loaded, the pitcher is in trouble there, not you. Look for a pitch in a zone you can drive and launch it. If it's not in that small location window, take it! It's then 3-2 and the pitcher is still in trouble. If Chase was "zone hitting", he would have never swung at ball 4.

Eddie Cicotte got the win. “Shoeless” Joe Jackson’s double in the ninth drove in the game and pennant clinching run. September 24, 1961 - Sox star pitcher Billy Pierce won his 186th and final game with the team as he threw almost seven innings in relief in an 8-7 win over Baltimore. Pierce would be traded to the Giants the following off season after 13 years on the South Side. He represented the Sox in seven All-Star games and started three of them for the American League, a White Sox record for pitchers. September 24, 1969 - Sox owner Art Allyn sold the club to his brother John Allyn thwarting moves made by Kansas City Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt and Milwaukee’s Allan "Bud" Selig to buy the team. Hunt wanted to move it to Dallas, Selig to Milwaukee. After Art had a handshake agreement with Selig to move the team to Milwaukee, John stepped in and issued an ultimatum that if he wanted to move the club he would have to get approval from the Artnell Company Board of Directors. Art declined to do that and sold to John. September 24, 1977 - Sox infielder Jack Brohamer had the game of his life as he became the second player in franchise history to hit for the cycle. The game took place in Seattle. Brohamer went 5 for 5 with two runs scored and four RBI’s in the 8-3 win. He homered in the first, doubled in the third, doubled in the fifth, singled in the sixth and tripled in the ninth inning collecting 12 total bases. September 24, 2000 - Despite losing to the Twins at the Metrodome, the Sox clinched the Central Division championship beating out Cleveland by five games with a record of 95-67. Owner Jerry Reinsdorf showed up in the locker room and said that “I’m sure all Sox fans are now happy the team made the White Flag deal.” Because of injuries to the pitching staff, primarily the starters, the Sox were not in good shape heading into the playoffs and were swept out in three by the Mariners. Offense was the key to the season as the Sox had the most prolific one in the American League led by the devastating one-two punch of Frank Thomas (143 RBI’s) and Magglio Ordonez (126 RBI’s). September 24, 2023 – In a disaster of a season for the White Sox one person at least had a memorable year for all the right reasons. When Luis Robert stole his 20th base of the year in the first inning of a rain-shortened 3-2 win in Boston he joined Magglio Ordonez as the only players in team history with at least 35 doubles, 30 home runs and 20 stolen bases in a season. He also is the only Sox player in team history with 35 or more doubles, 35 or more home runs, 75 or more RBI’s, 85 or more runs scored and 15 or more stolen bases in a single year. September 24, 2025 – An 8-1 loss to the Yankees in New York was the 100th on the season for the White Sox. It marked the first time in the 125-year history of the franchise they had ever had three straight seasons with at least 100 losses. It was also the fourth time in the last eight years. The American League record for most consecutive 100-loss seasons is held by the Washington Senators. They lost at least 100 games every year between 1961-1964. The Major League record is five straight years held by the Philadelphia Phillies from 1938-1942.

Going into the last week of play in 1967, the Red Sox had only four games to play, the White Sox and Twins had five each, and the Tigers had six. Most thought the White Sox were best situated to win the pennant because in their last five games, the Pale Hose were scheduled to play the last-place Kansas City Athletics twice and the seventh-place Washington Senators three games. Interestingly, at the start of play on Wednesday that final week, there was still the quite possible scenario of a four-way tie for first place — imagine the discussion regarding tiebreakers! According to Jeff Miller, in his book Down to the Wire, in the spring of 1967, some engineers at Honeywell apparently decided to amuse themselves by calculating the odds of a four-way tie for first in either the National League or American League. Their calculations showed that the chances of a four-way tie were ***30,315,229 to 1***. As Miller mused, why the engineers chose to use the company’s time this way remains unknown — baseball had never seen a tie involving more than two teams before 1967. But that Wednesday (September 27) a gloomy cloud fell over the South Side — the White Sox lost a doubleheader to the lowly A’s. Nevertheless, they still had a chance going into the final weekend because at the start of play on Friday all four teams were within a game and a half in the standings.
