  2. You are the person who referred to a "savior owner". The business of sports talk is to keep all sports fans enraged. Then they tune in, or click and like, or whatever. Once Jesus Ishbia takes over, we'll all swoon. "Look!! He dropped the price of the new ice cream drink!! I love this guy!!" But he will say something. Anything. And everyone will turn on him. You will have JR all over again. He might even come in and spend a bunch on free agents that everyone wants. But then it'll stop. Because Buddah Baseball Owner doesn't buy a team to make you happy. They're like vampires who not only suck your blood, but the air and the sun. They buy a team to ... get this... make money.
  3. At least that would wipe out Castillo’s contract. 🤣
  4. Lip thinks that the small market owners should endure massive losses to ensure parity with the big market owners who leverage their structural revenue edges to finance massively unfair payrolls.
  5. You seem like a smart guy Lip but your financial acumen is certainly lacking. You can theoretically kick out all the shitty owners and their replacements still can’t spend what the big market clubs do. Not sure how this doesn’t process with you, but the game will be forever broken until a floor & cap is implemented. It’s really that simple.
  6. I'd be a good billionaire and say how about I keep two dollars and the kid just gets really sick.
  7. Some people on this board get silly at the deadline we have two to four moves still coming.
  8. The thing about Castillo that sticks out is every time you talk about buying pitching being risky and saddling you with poor performance with a huge cost…they always seem to move pretty easily. They half-lifed the contract and have a reliever they could easily trade (for peanuts) and a prospect. Everytime people act like the team will need to have to attach value to get rid of a guy it never happens and they find someone who thinks a change of scenery will help.
  9. Teams carry a long reliever so I guess Fedde sort of takes that role.
  10. There is zero value in saying we hope to add another SP right now. He can go out and assess upgrades while saying he’s comfortable with Castillo & Schultz as his #4 & #5. He can’t do the same for catcher because everyone knows we need one.
  11. Okay, the joke is that the team we're playing today is being untruthful and asking us to play the lesser players on our roster (so they can win), under the guise of scouting them for a major trade. I really don't think the Rays would want to give us their best pitcher for Pereira and Romo.
  12. Quero had his best game yesterday, why sit him today?
  13. Feels like if we don't add another starter Schultz and Fedde will piggy back off each other most starts, 7 innings between the two of them isn't bad but limits the bullpen more
  14. Because I have endured Jerry Reinsdorf my entire 42 years of existence in this world. He is one of the worst baseball owners to walk the earth. Finally we have hope of a new owner, one who has unfounded wealth, ties to Chicago, a willingness to build a best in class ballpark, a willingness to spend and be bold (through the Suns), and actually caring about the fan experience (again through the Suns). How he made his money should have no barring on any of this unless it was through illegal means. You and Tray are prioritizing political nonsense over what’s best for the actual organization, it’s fandom, and the city of Chicago and it’s absurd. I have no beef with you but anyone siding with Tray on this matter should be called out. And yes, he might be the savior who frees us from Jerry, keeps us in the city that many call home, and builds a world class baseball org. I won’t apologize for the religious nomenclature because we are a group of diehard Sox fans and this s%*# is important to the vast majority of us.
  15. And replace them with what? People don't become billionaires by leaning into their altruism, or succumbing to the urge to pour their last penny into a slot machine. They suck every single dollar out of everything around them. If you put $4 on the table and told any generic billionaire they could have that $4, but that child over there will die, that money will be in their pocket in the blink of an eye. I'm not sure how we've made up this fairy tale of "savior owners" who have screwed over everybody they've ever met just to give you a baseball team that makes you feel better about yourself. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that all 30 MLB owners have focus grouped player line dancing between innings to wring more money out of this thing sticking out of their portfolio.
  16. You have Nightengale also saying he’s heard from some owners that the 2027 season might not happen. Good times
  17. I agree, Tray, and I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict good things from both today!
  18. Ken is pretty plugged in and it sounded like got that from someone right in the front office. Are the Cubs going to trade for the dozen rentals available? I don’t understand that point.
  19. Unfortunately the Rays have already seen enough of Pereira, the Tasmanian Devil, to want him back.
  20. Sox Machine with a detailed look at the deal: With Luis Castillo, the White Sox return to buying, but n...It’s been a long time since the White Sox approached the trade deadline as a buyer, and thus it’s been a long time since they made a trade they needed to get right, and right away at that. When’s the
  21. can't have enough insider drama. Getz didn't make noise like that fwiw just now. Doubt the Sox would outbid the Cubs for a starter. Sox going to want to bring up a few guys I think next month, hope for the best.
  22. Fedde has been way more productive than Castillo. Certainly doesnt deserve to lose his spot to him. Id be pissed if I were him. He seems like a professional though.
  23. Savior was the word you used lol. Why are you such a dick all of a sudden
  24. Let's put it this way since the MLBPA will NEVER agree to a salary cap, nor should they, the only other solution is to shitcan the cheap ass owners (and there are more than the teams I listed) and get those teams to start trying to win. And personally I care about the White Sox, first and foremost. I could care less about the "state of the game," or "competitive balance" I'd LOVE for the Sox to turn into the Dodgers and start kicking ass at the expense of every other team in baseball. And guess what, if the Blue Jays had gained an extra foot on that play at the plate they would have won the World Series last year, it was that close. And of course teams like Tampa Bay, Milwaukee and Cleveland blow apart the idea that smaller markets can't compete at all. By the way Ilitch isn't even close to the spending that his dad was doing when he had the club.
  25. Getz takes a player that Seattle has been actively trying to salary dump; sends them a reliever that they've been looking for (Dominguez, in contrast to Castillo, has been pitching well) and throws in 2 prospects, including one of our fast risers and top catching prospect. Absolutely stunning. This should have been Castillo for Dominguez. Meanwhile, every pitcher on the staff has been pitching well; but we've lost 2 1-0 games since the break. He's looking for more 5.00 ERA pitching. Oh, and the comp is the Shields trade. Getz emulates the worst of his mentor Hahn. Hopefully it turns out better on both ends.
