  2. I mean Jason was just as clueless as John. Find someone that knows the game a bit. Enough to know that 20 times out of 21 you're not swinging 3-0.
  3. The forum is a reflection of the fans who are most invested in the team. I know teams do pay attention to what is going on online with their fans
  4. The option for anything to be built at 35th street would be foreclosed if a massive railroad repair, and switching yard is dug in from Cermak to 39th street. The scope of that project was even greater than Sox ownership and management anticipated, and in all likelihood far more intrusive and expansive than most White Sox fans can even imagine. IMO, the prospective future owner has gone down the wrong path. Now is the time to pause and take stock in what is best for the team and the fans, respect and defer to the history and traditions of the Sox on the South side for over 120 years. No owner would have even suggested moving the the Yankees or Red Sox to a train yard because they had an option to buy a substandard parcel there. Shovels in the ground? There is no approved site plan or building plan so forget that 77. And as the self-appointed expert here on new stadiums tell me how the railyard plan compares to recent stadiums - baseball or football. Your urgency to get shovels in the ground before objections to the rushed plan speaks volumes. And this, in the midst of a play-off run.
  5. Here’s a quick photoshop of what a stadium footprint would look like. I chose to use Allegiant Stadium because the Bears’ renders take heavy inspiration from it. You’d have to bend/close a part of 35th Street, but a stadium could definitely fit there. Probably not, I just thought it was a cool thought experiment.
  6. I'm going to be really curious what Dan and ZIPS projects for Peters next year. I'd imagine it's something like 230/290/350 and around 1.5 fWAR (8 runs with the glove or so). But, they don't play the game on a spreadsheet, otherwise the Sox would be in Cancun this week instead of the ALDS.
  7. The 3-0 thing is so overblown. Heard Brian Anderson on Brewers broadcasts ask that all the time. Benetti used to ask Stone about 20 questions an inning when they broadcasted together.
  8. Would a Bears stadium even fit on the site? 35th St and 37th St. bisect the entire property. And if it could fit, do the Bears really want to shoehorn a 70,000 seat domed stadium plus an entertainment district on that site when they have 326 acres of uninterrupted land that they already own in Arlington Heights? I think they'll want a new Sox park done by 2033 so that they can host the 100th anniversary All Star Game there. But, I don't see it being ready much sooner than that - maybe a year ahead of that. At any rate, the Bears bought Arlington Park in early 2023. Why in the world would they want to wait a full 10 years after that before they can even START building a new stadium at 35th St? As far as the Amtrak facility goes, unless the city gets some sort of stop work injunction issued, I think they're going to want to get shovels in the ground ASAP....probably before opening day next year. They have the federal money and the federal exemption. They don't want to wait around until something halts their project.
  9. We have access to more information than ever. With AI, even mediocre minds can research things never before possible. And yet, John never understood WHY you'd give a 3-0 green light (or the opposite), even after asking Stone probably a dozen times over the seasons. This coming from a guy that claimed he was goin to play D1 baseball until he blew his arm out. I mean, he's a fraud. He might be a pretty nice guy, but as a baseball guy and announcer he's a fraud.
  10. Most likely he is playing CF for a reason in terms of his OF position
  11. Trades are gonna happen. Maybe not right away, but. There won’t be a problem deploying Bonemer if he comes out hot next spring. He will have a spot.
  12. I got 5th row downstairs for 80 bucks when I made this thread. People should have listened to me
  13. At this time last year, I'd say this is where we were at. A lot can change in a year. Core pieces: Colson Montgomery Kyle Teel Shane Smith Grant Taylor Building blocks: Edgar Quero Chase Meidroth Miguel Vargas Lenyn Sosa Edgar Quero Brooks Baldwin Sean Burke Some dudes: Tim Elko Curtis Mead Davis Martin Mike Vasil Exciting prospects: Braden Montgomery Hagen Smith Noah Schultz
  14. I don't understand most of the negative opinions about Schriffen. For example, he asked Stone if a hitter should be given the green light on 3-O. What was he supposed to do? Say nothing? OK. After he was criticized for that on-line, he stopped doing it, and that in itself became awkward - catering to the whims of internet sports forum warriors. Then the criticism about not gauging the distance of deep fly balls. Actually he was far better at that then Benetti. Then the "South side, stand up" OK, it was wonky but honestly, I admired the deference to the South side and it took balls to do that. Schriffen walked through the parking lot pregame to interact with Sox fans who were tailgating. Anyone have issues with that? Now, he made mistakes that some found unacceptabl. Others just do not like him personally or hate him for whatever their reasons. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Mine is that I don't think that he committed a firing offense (including his reference to Samurai swords) but if the majority of posters on this forum dislike him, then he probably should not be signed to an extension. After all, this place is the authority on all matters White Sox and management should defer. I demur.
  15. At this time last year everyone had Shane Smith penciled in as the Ace of the Staff.
  16. Peters had one season as an extreme late bloomer. He is not a known commodity. People anointed Colson in a small sample size and it’s questionable. Bonemer can’t win the job in spring training, but it’s pretty fluid competition in my opinion
  17. Projected arb figures from MLBTraderumors. This is a really young and cheap team. Sorta thing you dream about building in OOTP. Things can change, but man if we add some payroll..
  18. This. First you need the train yard stuff done. It is 2026 and we are still in the arguing about it phase. I mean MAYBE you get shovels in the ground at some point next year, but my guess is that 28 is more realistic to do all of the background work that needs to be done such as environmental studies, etc. So then you are probably taking to 2029, at least, if not 30 to get the yard done, then after they vacate the Railyards, THEN the team starts that whole process over again for remediation and such on their own site before they can get to work on building an actual stadium. I would think the 2033 season is a realistic goal to open a new Sox park with all of the moving parts. THEN the Bears could start on their stadium. We are probably talking 10ish years from today for them to move in.
  19. Good point, we are probably talking something like 2035 before those dominos all can fall in order.
  20. Problem is the new Sox park unlikely to be completed that quick
  21. If you also want to count people who were on the team at some point this year: Banks, Leasure, Sosa
  22. He shamed us. He doubled down on his schtick. He knew we didn’t like it. Did it anyway. Sayonara. (I am Japanese!)
