I don't think it's just that. Having another pick and having more bonus pool flexibility is huge in general. While I imagine Thome is a part of the plan, he was always going to be a part of the plan regardless if they added a pick or not. It's just more talent that can be infused into the farm.

Clearly they are identifing a guy they want at 34 badly. Woods is 24, has very good stuff... when he controls it. Hate that Gonzo had to be dealt though as someone who is of (half) Mexican descent. Sucks.

While I'm still not sure I love the trade, the draft sicko in me is elated to play with this.

It’s not about the RP. Pick 34 can be an impactful player at a position of need. I don’t hate it.

Booooooo, I don't really get it IMO A shitty lefty reliever for another shitty lefty reliever, Getz loves them. The comp pick is interesting, I don't know the ins and outs of the bonus pool and what this could mean draft wise for them. Feel like we could have use Gonzalez in a trade for a SP
