Catchers, Catchers, Anywhere?
And if it serves my memory right, the Cubs picked up his contract, no? This is exactly what I am talking about.

Catchers, Catchers, Anywhere?
It's the returns, not the players. Anyone with half a brain knew guys were going to go at the deadline, but the question is what we got for them, not that we traded them. For example, if the Sox didn't need to dump Dominguez to save a few bucks, they could have sent a lessor prospect than Smith.

Is It Time To Call Up Bonemer?
Thank god for that.

“The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development
Yeah there is way the Sox leave their current site in 2029. This might be an 8 to 10 year timeline to get EVERYTHING done with all of the complexities that need to happen before a ballpark can even start.
-
Catchers, Catchers, Anywhere?
I'm not sure the Sox could have done that. Bergolla's injured. They don't seem to have much between the "fuckin' dudes" tier, and projects, right now.

Davis Martin to IL, McDougal optioned to AAA, Urquidy & Schweitzer recalled
In either scenario the Sox should have picked up the contract and send a lot less in return.

Sox start a guy all of the time and then cut him the next day.

The Glaring Question - Sox Starting Pitching
It just looks like exactly what we saw at the beginning of the year. No control. Him and Martin rocking the No Control Virus

That's great! I'm not subscribed to Crain's so I missed that part. Getting the BNSF portion of the yard (or even half of it) would remove pretty much all stadium constraint issues.

The Glaring Question - Sox Starting Pitching
Do we know what happened to him? His strikeouts and hits allowed still look good. But his walks are way up and appear to be the difference. Did he just lose his command/control?
-
Davis Martin to IL, McDougal optioned to AAA, Urquidy & Schweitzer recalled
They were obviously hiding him and didn't want to use him and kind of ran out of options with the early exit of Martin.

Some really interesting stuff in that Crain's article: "Amtrak’s real estate team is negotiating the purchase of the two trapezoidal Union Pacific yards on over 60 acres of land. Ishbia offered to design and construct all of Amtrak’s maintenance facilities on both the southern tip of its current site and the Union Pacific yard. A new indoor facility would be large enough to accommodate six trains to be serviced simultaneously. Amtrak’s current location only allows for one." and this one was really noteworthy to me: "Ishbia is also in advanced talks to purchase a roughly 20-acre rail yard owned by railroad operator BNSF adjacent to Amtrak’s 14th Street yard, giving him greater control to reshape the industrial tract while preserving active tracks into Union Station. Metra has a maintenance facility at the BNSF yard and is planning its own move, according to sources familiar with the project." This seems to answer the question of how they'd be able to squeeze a ballpark into the rather narrow Amtrak property. It still sounds like any stadium development would come later, with the initial development being focused on the medical campus on the property. But the fact that he's also planning to buy the BNSF/Metra land suggests to me that they really do envision a ballpark eventually being part of the development.

Don’t let that stop you.

Fegan Departing Sox Machine
I wonder if he had his pornstache already in college?

Davis Martin to IL, McDougal optioned to AAA, Urquidy & Schweitzer recalled
This feels like how 2020 would have gone with a full schedule

Here's a little more info Construction starting "Fall 2026" with 18-month timeline means work at the South loop yard could potentially begin as soon as Spring 2028.

TBH, it's a fairly bog-standard yips situation. Nick Nastrini went through something similar after the Sox cut him. Sox farmhand Jarold Rosado seems to be playing footsie with the yips but isn't quite so clear-cut. The persistence of sending Oppor out there is kind of noteworthy though as it seems like teams often send those poor guys into hiding. I can share that when chatting with a few minor leaguer parents at spring training this year, I heard that Christian had some reputation as being kind of arrogant and perhaps uncoachable. The message I was getting was they felt like he was good-hearted but definitely felt like he was the big dog and wanted everyone to know it. Makes me wonder whether the Sox marching him out there is some kind of humiliation ritual or something, lol

Catchers, Catchers, Anywhere?
I would have been willing to give up whatever the Sox equivalent would have been to what the Cubs gave up for rental Gausman — Brett Bateman and Ty Southisene. Two tiny slappy prospects.

We are lucky the Tigers traded Skubal to the National League and out of the AL Central.

This is the same as what I posted above, but with some more context for those that aren't subscribed.

Whoa, I haven't checked in on him in a minute. I play this nerdy ass baseball simulation game called Out of the Park Baseball and he generally turns into a stud. What the heck happened here?

We need the spirit of Earl Weaver’s three run homers with the help of the Pope.

Catchers, Catchers, Anywhere?
Well, if you look at the erratic nature of both the offense and rotation, I don't think there's enough polishing one can do to this team right now. I would have liked for them to pick up another starter, and maybe they did with Urquidy. But I wouldn't have unloaded for 2 months of somebody who could lose his release point, get injured, or just not click.

The Greatest & Dumbest Thing I Bought
Exactly, and it can get quite pricey and tough to find the parts these days. I was into the physical arcades cabinets for a bit but I quickly realized how much space they take up. Cool to have a little arcade gaming room though with physical cabinets.
