  1. Past hour
  2. Jags are my second team now, though it's more of a passive following. Jags defense really blew this one - guy wide open 30+ yards down the field set up a touchdown. Can't give up those plays when you have a late lead. Very Packers-esque.
  3. I don’t want to turn this into a big thing because there’s no point, as Timmy joked about, but think this post through. Are you honestly indifferent about people’s behaviour if it doesn’t directly affect you? I doubt it. Anyways, regardless on anyone’s thoughts about Matt Shaw, I can’t imagine it happening.
  4. Well Trevor Lawrence certainly ain't Caleb Williams in the clutch.
  5. I'm not as high on Quero as some due to his lack of power and ehh defense so far. I'd look to maximize his value in a trade. Shaw was hyped, but he had a decent first year and there are apparently some makeup concerns, plus they have nowhere to play him right now unless he can play RF, where his current hitting would hurt his productivity unless he really turns it on. There's a lot of factors you can argue will reduce Shaw's value in a trade, though it's still probably not likely they move him for Quero + some low level guy like I'd want. I'd still be calling the Cubs. I'm not trading any pitching right now. They need too much of it.
  6. I saw the “hot” label on this thread and thought something happened, only to read thinkpieces about Matt Shaw getting traded to the Sox.
  7. I love a run this long about a potential trade exactly zero industry sources are speculating about. It’s not a rumor. It’s baseball fanfic. It tells how long the wait until pitchers and catchers report is going to be.
  8. As do the prospects that the Sox would have to trade to get Shaw. And the way he’s hyped, it would be a heavy cost. Or, would you trade Shane Smith for him? I might if he had that war playing CF.
  9. Funny to see the Red Sox not beat out the Cubs but their payroll is already much higher. I think the Cubs are projected at around $176 million and Boston is at $243 million.
  10. Ive got bad news for you my friend, you already root for, and have rooted for people like Matt Shaw.
  11. It’s unfortunate that Matt Shaw did something so grievous to you that you would have to actively root against him if he was ever a member of your favorite team.
  12. Maybe before Ishbia emerged as the next owner, there may have been a scenario where that could have happened. But, once it was announced that JR would eventually sell to him, that should have put to rest any concerns. Ishbia's comments during his meeting with the Pope in November should have slammed the door on any such talk. I think the only question remaining is whether Ishbia is going to bankroll a new ballpark for the Sox in the South Loop. We'll see, that's a lot of money- even for a billionaire. But I find it hard to believe his plans after spending somewhere close to $2B for the franchise is to keep them at "There's Nothing Wrong With It" Field for the next 35 years.
  13. Pritzker in that video clip is saying they're willing to provide infrastructure toward the project and that the Bears are welcome to negotiate tax abatement with local authorities.....so what's the problem? Isn't that exactly what the Bears want? So, what are Warren and the McCaskeys looking for? On the other hand, it's one thing if state officials and the Bears just can't come to an agreement on numbers, but it sounds like state officials are going out of their way to poke the Bears in the eye by saying they aren't even going to consider any proposals for at least another year. I don't think that's a good way to get things done. Am I missing something? The Bears are offering to pay for the entire cost of the stadium, right? If we're waiting for everyone's cost of living concerns to be resolved before we spend any money on infrastructure, that's never going to happen. Let's say the Bears end up building a stadium complex in NW Indiana. What happens to the Arlington Park site? Just fill it with up with more crappy suburban strip malls and townhomes? Are the tax revenues from that kind of development going to be more than what the Bears would pay even if they get some tax breaks? Is that a "win" for Illinois residents? Also, how much would infrastructure cost to develop that land into something other than a stadium complex? I assume the plan isn't to just let 325 acres of prime real estate to sit vacant forever.
  14. No, but the Cubs don't have enough money for both, and they certainly could have signed Tucker with the money they have. Bregman is a damn good player but he's already 32. He's been a 3.5-4.4 fWAR guy for the last three years, and I don't expect that to go up at 32. He's probably still a 4ish WAR guy next year but he's in his decline. Tucker is 4 years younger and has been a consistent 4.5 fWAR guy. You're likely going to get that production for a few years longer than Bregman, and RF is a bigger hole than 3B was for them. They also spent a lot of resources to only get Tucker for one season.
  15. Need Jacksonville to win, so we can avoid Buffalo in the 2nd round. Both of these teams would own us (Jacksonville already did) but I'd like at least a reasonable chance to win a playoff game in the divisional round. Pittsburgh would be the most ideal opponent.
  16. At no point do I ever want Matt Shaw on my team because I will always actively root against him.
  17. Today
  18. I get it, but you'd end up with Shaw as your 3B/2B with Vargas at 3B occasionally (or you trade him for something). Shaw has a shot to be a good player, and they could always look to trade him or trade some of their infield prospects down the road for help in other areas. I try to never assume a team has "too much" of anything.
  19. We all knew they wouldn't resign Tucker, because the Ricketts are cheap AF
  20. That data seems a little low. I wonder if they looked only at NFL or if they included all levels. Need to dig into it. In my experience, its higher than that.
  21. Its going to be long. Good bet he misses most if not all next year. Again depends on if it ruptured from the vone or in mid-substance.
  22. Link? Because it appears that @TheBooneLoganEra is correct.
