Just depends on how one defines "meh" prospects...especially Bonemer and Carlson. SS position seems like there's a ton of current depth there, but Getz was touting the unique advantages the Sox had vis a vis the rest of MLB with Quero and Teel just a mere year ago.

Well, his good play is why I say you can't replace him. But if I had to put money down I'd probably be betting against him as the Sox everyday CF a calendar year from now. I hope I'm wrong though!

Mariners wouldn’t do it, but it’s not the worst idea. If you extend Mune, there becomes an odd man out.

Sox are in a weird spot since on one hand, you have a clear need for more starting pitching...BUT you could use a little more offense too. But there's only one position you can really target (catcher). I'm kind of a Peters nonbeliever but you can't go out and get a new CF right now. And while I'd like the Sox to be the kind of team that would replace Benny, in practical terms you can't replace him even though you should be getting more production out of your full-time DH. Every other spot is occupied by a long-term piece and none of them are playing poorly.

Martin has to get his shlitter together and give the Sox a chance to come back.

Problem with appearing to give up at the trade deadline is loss of attendance and media dollars the rest of the season and perhaps an inability to resign Murakami moving forward. Then 3 more games with the Cubs which could be rough.

And don’t seem all that good either.

Wild to me how many Sox fans actually don’t want to compete for a playoff spot and prefer to be miserable and clutch meh prospects. I think I may need to exit the gamethread for the night…not sure I can handle the Panicans whine at length about the offense not scoring despite facing one of the best pitchers in the game.
