  1. Past hour
  2. Situations like this are exactly why the "cheap" extensions are able to be justified. These do not always work out.
  3. In the case of needing a guy to pitch starter's innings today who hasn't just thrown 4 innings last night, yes. Very much so.
  4. Keith Law takes a look at the upcoming #1 draft pick for the Sox on GN Sports. Law thinks if the draft were held today, they'd pick Emerson.
  5. Joe Rock is a giant left-hander with a funky throwing motion, I think it's obvious why the Sox were interested in him. It's like asking what somebody sees in Sydney Sweeney since she says dumb things sometimes.
  6. This would honestly be great. If you could get it done
  7. For once trying to be mid might prove useful.
  8. Rock was on the 40-man. They needed a body.
  9. They're promoting Boston Smith to AA, so maybe that opens a slot at the lower levels they're trying to fill.
  10. Got to get Romo his 2 strikeouts and flyout to left field.

  12. Even better - 2nd yr is a team option.
  13. They will cover the buyout and part of the contract for this year if needed.
  14. Today
  15. Get Sonny Gray and Garrett Whitlock.
  16. Then why did Joe Rock ever get called up? His walk rate is even worse than Peoples.
  17. I believe you ain't seen nothin' yet, B-b-baby, you just ain't seen n-n-n-nothin' yet.
  18. I’ve coached football my entire adult life and our mantra when building a roster (albeit with HS kids) was to find the best athletes and worry about their position later. Obviously there’s nuance to it when comparing that philosophy to MLB players, but always give me the very best athletes who have the attributes to play other positions, or guys who have shown positional flexibility. For me, watching that game where Lackey played every spot shows me that he exhibits positional flexibility. I get he’s a phenomenal catching prospect, but he’s a guy that could absolutely be a future OF prospect. He’s proven durable during his college career. He’s my choice. His bat is going to travel.
  19. Powell to Bulls using last of their cap space. 2yrs 45M. Solid shooting move at position of need. Quality vet and anti relegation love. I think we have just the room MLE left.
  20. Schweitzer was great yesterday and surely he’s shrewd enough to understand this optioning isn’t reflective of performance and moreso about roster mgmt. He’ll be back.
  21. To me, the return is sort of irrelevant. The fact that we got a return is a win. We got a guy that the org was familiar with and we lessened some stress on 40 man decisions we’ll eventually have to make. He’s only 23 and if he could eventually be a guy that could be a AAAA catcher, that’s a win for this trade. If nothing else maybe he provides depth eventually in AAA. The important thing is the optics of being proactive in terms of the upcoming roster crunch and trying to get SOME sort of return for these guys we’re going to have to make decisions on.
  22. I don’t think trading Peoples is a big deal. He’s likely behind Davis, Gonzalez, Iriarte, and Pallette in the pecking order anyway. Why they wanted Hartl is beyond me.
  23. I had Borchard as a dark horse candidate
