Finally we have hope of a new owner, one who has unfounded wealth, ties to Chicago, a willingness to build a best in class ballpark, a willingness to spend and be bold (through the Suns), and actually caring about the fan experience (again through the Suns). How he made his money should have no barring on any of this unless it was through illegal means. You and Tray are prioritizing political nonsense over what’s best for the actual organization, it’s fandom, and the city of Chicago and it’s absurd. I have no beef with you but anyone siding with Tray on this matter should be called out. And yes, he might be the savior who frees us from Jerry, keeps us in the city that many call home, and builds a world class baseball org. I won’t apologize for the religious nomenclature because we are a group of diehard Sox fans and this s%*# is important to the vast majority of us.

I'm not sure how we've made up this fairy tale of "savior owners" who have screwed over everybody they've ever met just to give you a baseball team that makes you feel better about yourself. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that all 30 MLB owners have focus grouped player line dancing between innings to wring more money out of this thing sticking out of their portfolio.

Let's put it this way since the MLBPA will NEVER agree to a salary cap, nor should they, the only other solution is to shitcan the cheap ass owners (and there are more than the teams I listed) and get those teams to start trying to win. Maybe the Rays' GM was like, "We're so ready to trade you our best pitcher, and we'll take a package centered around Pereira and Romo. Could you get them a start today so we can make sure they're the guys we want?"

On paper this deal looks pretty much like a wash. They are taking on around 14 mil in added payroll. We have to hope that Castillo will have a positive bump in performance with the change of scenery. He is leaving a team that has been a huge disappointment this year and coming to a team that has been just the opposite. I guess I look at it as it is better than nothing. I absolutely don't want the Sox giving up any of their top prospects unless their getting an all star with control in return. Realistically these are the only kind of deals the Sox can and should make right now.
