  2. RBI's do mean something. You keep driving in runs and it makes everyone love you.
  3. In a similar vein, the Sox have 5 lefty relievers on the 26 man: Shweitzer, Eisert, Hudson, Newcomb, Murphy. I presume that that number will have to be winnowed down; and some can’t just be optioned back; and none are really bad enough to just DFA of the 40-man. (except maybe Eisert who has such little velocity), so dealing with this situation might create 40-man room.
  4. Meidroth, ANtonacci, Teel, Colson , Quero all did pretty good out of the gate. Shane Smith & Vasil too. Peters, Mune. Maybe you're thinking about the old Sox.
  5. Where would we be without Gonzalez? Vargas at 1b, CM at 3rd, Meidroth at SS and I guess Antonacci at 2b. Whoever in LF? No thank you. Thank goodness for the depth. And we may need it tomorrow. As it is, Gonzalez is a better defender at first than Mune. 1B/DH should be Gonzalez/Mune or vice-versa going forward. Gonzalez could spell some other IFs once a week too. It's Benintendi who is really the odd man out (but he's been doing well, so I have no impending desire to move him). Detmers has been one of those underachieving types, who's having a great year. Is it a one-off career year, or has he figured things out? I'd rather the sox go after Urena, but either one would cost something that would hurt. And really, the really don't need any hole-pluggers (such as an innings-eater starter) that can be had for a low-ceiling prospect. Overall, Sox have some depth. But I don't see an abundance (other than perhaps lefty middle relief) or anyone really blocked.

  7. Beni should be gone after this year so having him be able to slot in at DH or super sub for 4/5 games a week against Righties makes a ton of sense. Also there will bound to be injuries
  8. he wasn't on the 40 man though, that is a problem for after the season not when our bullpen has holes and he could possibly contribute
  9. Any rumors on who the Orioles might be starting tomorrow?
  10. Honestly, I’m not sure yet. If Benny goes down the road, DH is an option. 2B is also a possibility. I’m just not eager to move him simply because he’s “blocked” at the moment. Guys get injured all the time and he’s an insurance across the entire infield and at DH. I think trading him now is likely selling him low. Even a little bit of major league success would catapult his value come the offseason.
  11. With how well this team plays at home that is a beautiful dream.
  12. woah, entering tmr's game Sox are 2.5 behind Yankees. That was a 8 game gap a couple weeks ago. Something to watch. Yankees are down a lot of projected, and WAR on paper the Rays are similar to Sox, granted Rays have a much longer history of turning low payroll into playoff contention, but go ahead and dream on a #1 seed why not.
  13. I found the interview with him posted here recently pretty interesting, sounds like they've had him work on his timing and he mentioned how he can see what they're pitching him now. It looks like it's been working, he's done a good job of increasing his walk rate while cutting down his K rate. Also really encouraged hearing the coaching staff actively working with the young guys throughout the season, it always seemed like it was set it and forget it with the previous regime.
  14. Thanks. I learn a lot looking up music related to the cities we're playing against. I try to mix it up.
  15. Don’t get more catchers, bullpen a huge need complete head scratcher.
  16. You def have an interesting ear Eddy. Don't like all of it but can respect the listen for sure. Gonna be a hot one on the mid Atlantic coast tmr.
  17. A few newer signings for this class as well https://www.instagram.com/p/DaOtBwFDYrx/?img_index=2&igsh=MTFkYmh0dXU3cjcybg==
  18. Way to Ron proof it again @WestEddy
  19. I get it but Mune also has an elite eye at the plate. We haven't had someone like him since Dunn. And when Dunn was healthy, like in 2012, he was pretty phenomenal. I remember Getz saying that he didn't have a problem with the strikeouts because he knew he would also get close to that in walks. I think the better way to Judge him is by .ops. His .ops is pretty high. The new CHSN podcast has a great interview with the hitting coach going over his process. They've really worked with the players on being patient and forcing pitchers to work deep into counts.
  20. He clearly wasn't in their plans.
  21. It seems like the scouting and development guys are reading the same page for the first time in a long time.
  22. I feel like he's bound to be traded at some point with all our middle infielders. I would love to be wrong and him develop into a legitimate power threat. What's your ideal scenario for him - taking over at 2nd? I wonder what they do with him when Mune returns. Platoon with Meidroth at 2nd?
