Robert Thread: Sox talking to Reds, Mets
Chicago White Sox replied to Snopek's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yes, he got a couple things right and then also overplayed his hand a bit but was not a total fraud. It’s clear that whomever his source was was fired as part of Getz’s first wave of layoffs. -
I was just talking about his bat, hence mentioning his PA over the past two seasons. His defense is usually good. And the reason you can’t just stretch out his WAR over 162 games is because he is always due for an injury each season.
-
The flu strain going around is no joke. God damn.
-
Robert hasn't been BAD. He's put up around 1.4 bWAR in about 100 games in each of the last two seasons, when stretched over 162 games is about 2 WAR, which is an average major leaguer. And he does have the ceiling of a 4-5 WAR player, if somebody can get him to tap into it again. I don't think it's unreasonable to think he could replicate what he did for a month's worth of games just this last year. If he worked through a hitch in his swing, or started reacting different to the way he's pitched, he doesn't decide in each at-bat he is the guy who OPSed .540 in August of 2024.

"people ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball: I tell them I stare at the screen and argue on Soxtalk."
-
When I saw the headline, I immediately thought there was a rumor he was moving. Damn it.
-
If he could play a decent LF, he might have some value. Sadly, he’s their platoon DH
-
Wasn’t there another supposed insider named after a reliever that pitched for both the Cubs and Sox? Steve Cishek maybe?
-
I hope “Bartolo’s Colonoscopy” isn’t considered a “foodie”. 🤢🤮🤣

Beat me to it.

Benintendi for Taijuan Walker would be great, but not sure the Phillies would do that.
-
His destination is LF for the Sox.

Is “The 78” Dead? Or even more alive? Fire announce plans for SSS
77 Hitmen replied to soxfan18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Here's an interesting look at just how much of a sweetheart deal the new stadium deal is for the Chiefs and how bad it sounds for Kansas taxpayers: -
Phillies might consider dealing Castellanos for him, but that would only save us $12M overall in the long-run.
-
I can’t really envision a scenario this off-season where he gets traded, but if he can be an average hitter or better in the first half I can see a desperate team trading for him.
-
I think he’s still on Twitter but I haven’t seen any rumors from him recently. I feel like all the foodie insider accounts have died off recently. Bartolo’s Colonoscopy is the last one standing.

Could also do it the other way where another team takes money but we load it up with sweeteners going the other way. Like if Boston loves Sosa, for instance. Or if someone likes Ramos or something else i'm not seeing.
-
Probably a topic many of you will laugh off or not even click into. But it's possible he could go somewhere if we take back a similarly bloated contract. He's owed money for two more years but the second year is slightly lighter. I wonder also if we would still have some spending room for this coming year, and we could use it on this kind of trade, take back more money than we're giving out, and thus take back some goodies from the other team to make it worthwhile. We've shown we'll take your posthype/blocked prospects. Cardinals and Red Sox have helpful hitters they could be trying to get rid of. Yoshida for one could be someone who is a Mune buddy. Arizona Eduardo Rodriguez is a similar bad contract. To do these i think to be attractive in this kind of thing we financially have to give a little extra, but we are behaving a little differently than years' past so ..who knows. What destinations have (1) a bad contract to give us back, but also (2) -- and this is tougher to find -- actually have a need for anything Beni provides? LH/mostly DH?

Chicago White Sox's Offseason FA Signings Trades Megathread
Lip Man 1 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There's some value in that to be sure but not as much as what he was being paid millions of dollars to do. -

I believe he was formally Al’s Cheesy Beef and got a couple things right he heard secondhand and then tried parlaying that into a fake insider account before outing himself as Orlando on Soxtalk becuase of a pair of Nike’s. But because he so badly wants attention, he created this account to spew out fake rumors. Is FootlongComiskeyDog still doing this con? He blocked me on Twitter for calling him out over fake rumors so can’t tell what he’s up to. I did listen in on one of is Twitter spaces and practically died of laughter at how dumb everything he said was. -
That guy has literally never been right about anything.
