If that's the lineup, I think that Pereira platoons with Kelenic. Vs. LHP, Pereira's the RF, Acuña's CF, Baldwin's in LF. VS. RHP, Kelenic in LF, Acuña in CF, Baldwin in RF. Maybe... if somebody like Tristan Peters plays out of his head in ST, he can spell Acuña against some righties. I also think that Newcomb's going to be given every chance to start, which means Cannon doesn't make the team and Chris Murphy/Bryan Hudson/Ryan Borucki/Eisert battle to be the 2nd pen lefty.
-
That’s possible. It’s close. If Meidroth truly has no SLG like Madrigal, he’s a utility backup. Hopefully, Carlson can develop into a good 2B/CF since I assume Colson will be at 3B and Roch will be our SS. Maybe you cover 2B and CF with Acuna and Carlson.
-
Unpopular opinion, and I know his defense something to be desired, but I prefer Sosa over Meidroth if it comes down to one has to go. Meidroth just screams Nick Madrigal to me.
-
Current roster as is: C Teel/Quero 1B: Murakami/Mead 2B Meidroth 3B Vargas SS Montgomery LF Kelenic (I think he makes the team) CF Acuna RF Pereira/Brooksie DH Benintendi/Sosa SP: Shane Smith, Davis Martin, Anthony Kay, Sean Burke, Jonathan Cannon RP: Tyler Gilbert, Alexander Alberto, Jedixson Paez, Matt Vasil, Sean Newcomb, Jordan Leasure, Grant Taylor, Seranthony Domínguez You got Berrora (who was very good at the end of 2024) and Thorpe coming back. And the pen isn't even including Eisert, Murphy, and Davitt. I'd trade Sosa and a depth pen guy for a prospect or two. Definitely need SP, just not sure who to sign. German Marquez? Zack Littel? Nick Martinez? Jon Gray? Walker Buehler?

Interesting. Id almost argue the opposite. Usually in zone issues are related to swing path which is harder to overhaul than discipline itself which can improve with reps. Always like to read a different perspective. Id say teams will move on from guys that have contact issues and need complete swing overhauls more quickly than someone who has recognition issues. Recognition issues can sometimes be resolved by just putting someone in front of a machine and forcing them to watch and engage at 100000 pitches in a certain area.

If you can’t play LF, you shouldn’t even be in the MLB.

Hopefully we'll find out in ST

MLBTR Offseason Outlook on White Sox
Chicago White Sox replied to WestEddy's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The infield to start the season is going to be Murakami at 1B, Meidroth at 2B, Colson at SS, & Vargas at 3B. With Baldwin & Acuna both capable infielders, I don’t think we carry more than one of Sosa or Mead. If Chase or Miguel falters, then the backup infielder or even Baldwin could push for one of their roles. At some point and potentially fairly early into the season, I fully expect Antonacci to put the heat on both of those guys. Outside of trading one of Sosa or Mead before the season, I’d go in with what we have and see who establishes themselves. -
Sox are already looking at a glut of infielders, do they start looking at trading some to fill other needs? Sosa is definitely getting to be odd man out. Vargas potentially too. Getz has already said to be looking at trades. You have Sosa, Montgomery, meidroth, Baldwin, Vargas, Acuna, and Murakami at major league level. Antonacci, Carlson, bonemer, and Roch hopefully drafted. DH is going to be rotated with benintendi and catchers until they decide to probably move quero.

One thing to add is Periera doesn’t chase a ton…he was squarely around league average last year in AAA and above average in the majors. His K issues have been more driven by poor in zone contact and I truly believe that’s far more addressable (within reason) than teaching someone at this stage of their career to radically improve their swing decisions. Given his double plus bat speed, there are likely some approach changes that can be implemented situationally to improve his contact rates with only minor sacrifices to his power output. It’s still a risky profile but one I am eager see first hand this spring.
-
I agree. Fuller will fix ‘em though!
-
Wagler really helped his NBA draft stock. 46 points against a team like Purdue is insane.
-
He's the most intriguing guy they've picked up this off-season (beside Murakami I guess), but that K Rate is scary which is probably why he got so little run. It was crazy high in the minors and then basically became unplayable in the big leagues. Him and Murakami could strike out 500 times between them if they got enough run.
-
Yeah I certainly wouldn’t want to give him a contract longer than a year. If he’s willing to take a 1 year deal, bring him in.
-
I’m not ready at all to give up on Baldwin defensively in the outfield. I’m hoping they give him consistent playing time at one position so he can master it. Benintendi is what he is, just have to deal with him for a little while longer.
-
Illinois vs Purdue was insane.
-
They'll figure something out, like the Angels did with Rendon.

Haha, his wife probably smacked him out of his stupidity to leave $43 million on the table.

White Sox sign RHP Seranthony Domínguez, 2/20M
Chicago White Sox replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I personally think they will want both of these guys in camp though. I will say that adding Dominguez will make it harder to roster both of them to start the season. -
White Sox sign RHP Seranthony Domínguez, 2/20M
Jake replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You're right regarding R5, I was mixing up their names. It's Alberto I think they are more likely to drop (although you could argue that Alberto may be a little more MLB-ready). -
Or not?

I liked B&B. Bernstein without Boers was not good. RIP.
