If they're going to sell the farm for Skubal, or drop some lifetime dime on a free agent, yeah, I think Getz might watch a game or a bullpen. But no, he's not traveling all over the country to watch somebody's rehabbing pitcher throw a game in AAA. And the scouting they're doing, probably watching to see if the pitcher's really doing what the numbers indicate, or looks like a healthy version of himself, he employs guys who do that better, and that's their job. If the Sox are seriously interested in maybe 20 starting pitching targets, a dozen bullpen arms, 4-6 catchers and a bunch of RH bats, why in the world would he be scouting them?

Even if was a pitcher instead of an infielder in the majors, he would still be listening to other members of his staff on pitchers to target. It’s not unlike the corporate world. The higher up you go, the more you delegate to other people. Of course, if s%*# hits the fan, you are also ultimately the one to blame.
