  1. Past hour
  2. The ultimate say will be the voters and if they decide politicians sticking their necks out for the McCaskey family is in their best interests. Time will tell. "Politically, it’s imperative that the state not be seen as giving the billionaire Bears ownership a taxpayer-funded stadium. If they can give themselves enough cover, then maybe they might possibly find enough votes for this. But it’s still a straight uphill climb even after Indiana has begun putting its cards on the table."
  3. Exactly correct, I wrote a story about this back in the day. One example, remember back in 2006 when ESPN was running a poll for each professional city asking who was the most popular franchise in it. For Chicago where the Sox had just won the World Series and the Blackhawks were not very good they listed four teams you could vote for: Cubs, Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks. That cause Scott Reifert, Sox VP to say, "ESPN is just mad because we eliminated their Red Sox..." And Berman after the 2003 All-Star Game ripped Sox fans for booing Cub, Twins and Indians representatives, he did it during an interview with a Connecticut TV station (he appeared to be drunk at the time). He said Sox fans were the worst in baseball. Yet next year in Houston when Astro fans were booing including their own manager who was there, he said nothing. I'll have to pull that column I did from the files to find the other examples.
  4. Berman is such a jackass. Ha! I forgot that David Wells was the pitcher for that at-bat. Two ex-White Sox involved in that play!
  5. I figured he'd have a 1000 inning career as a 4th starter. Battling a shoulder injury never helps.
  6. Who cares? Wait until you hear about their SEC bias...
  7. Berman gave a more wholehearted congrats to the Red Sox when our Sox sealed the series. It was pathetic. ESPN can suck a boner.
  8. Today
  9. This has been a long-standing problem with ESPN. I mean, they actually had an announcer for the Sox-Boston ALDS series actively rooting for the other team! Ohhhh noooo!!!! Everybody's safe!!! The Sox being forgotten and ignored over the last 10 or so years has been self-inflicted, but the way ESPN constantly disregards the team pre-dates the current franchise problems.
  10. Illinois lawmakers appear to be more willing to consider legislation for a Bears stadium in Arlington Heights. https://chicago.suntimes.com/columnists/2026/01/24/bears-illinois-arlington-heights-indiana-stadium-pritzker-rich-miller Whether this is motion or actual movement remains to be seen. But some previously recalcitrant Chicago legislators do appear to be considering an Arlington Heights plan to prevent the team from crossing the border. Looks like the Indiana proposal got their attention. That's what leverage does, folks. This doesn't mean a deal on the Bears stadium is a certainty, but at least some officials appear to be moving past the "we just want to give the Bears the middle finger so that we can tell everyone we told the rich owners to go screw themselves" stage. This doesn't mean I think IL officials should give the Bears everything they want, but at least stop telling them to go to hell and we'll think about it in 2027....maybe....if the state solves all societal issues by then.
  11. If Baldwin shows a big improvement in the OF since he's a switchhitter keep him in the OF as much as possible. l know plenty of guys need a lot of looks in ST but I'd be playing Baldwin every day out there. Getting off to a good start is pretty crucial this year and I'd like some of these young guys to know where they stand and hit the ground running, especially Acuna and Baldwin.

  13. With the weather, it might be a while if this requires anything in person. The Eastern half of the US is a disaster right now.
  14. I’m assuming it will be early this week when guys are technically working.
  15. I don’t see the Bader fit now that we added Acuna. Cheap corner outfield who can be a stop-gap for Braden makes more sense now.
  16. Reliever, if keep both Rule 5 guys, which I hope they do. Otherwise bench player because the Sox have a lot of position players to audition;
  17. Feel like Shemar Turner is not discussed at all regarding the 2026 Bears. Bears found a lot of success with their other two second round picks (Ozzy and Burden) and while Turner basically didn't play in 2025 because of the ACL injury, I still think there should be some potential for him there to make an impact next season. Certainly not going to "solve" the DE problem, but hopefully he can contribute.
  18. Maybe they are waiting because they are announcing signing Bader today.
  19. We should hear about corresponding move today most likely right?
  20. Instead of “bullpen days”, we’re gonna start having “Rule 5 days”. Paez pitches the first inning and Alberto pitches the second. Then the R5 veterans come in with Smith going innings 3-8 and Vasil closing it out in the 9th.
  21. If you’re projecting ahead like that, then what about Bonemer? Could be Caleb at 3B, Roch at SS, and then Colson in the outfield or at 1B. Then again, maybe Bonemer moves to LF.
  22. In the "old days," I would agree with you. With today's 5-inning starts, if we are lucky, it's practically mandatory.
  23. Starters are going shorter than ever which forces a bullpen to play a bigger role. Let me ask you this, what value is there in having a 5th bench piece vs. an extra reliever?
