  1. No. Because it isn't happening.

  2. How about Getz wins an AL Executive of the Year award first? Coming in 2029, right? Should be easy to do starting with zero expectations. Right now, that covered award would be from reallocated from other execs...an appreciation/participation trophy for helping contribute to those other teams' postseason runs in 2024-25.

  3. Exactly. It wasn’t too long ago Rick Hahn was the guy with all the correct answers and everything bad was someone else’s fault. Now no team will touch him.

  4. This. Cubs declined the 3 year option turning into 1 year player option for Imanaga. He can take 1 year QO.

  5. You’re understanding incorrect. Cubs declined the 3 year option which gave Imanaga a $15M player option for 2026. He didn’t opt out of 3/57M. The Cubs did.

  6. One of these days everything will quit being someone else's fault. Probably the day they fire Getz.

  7. I thought the Cubs turned down the option. I've seen it spelled out (maybe even here, somewhere) that the Cubs would give a QO, Imanaga takes it, then he can pitch in Japan if the lockout goes longer than expected.

  8. Nobody is saying anything next because there will be a lockout.

  9. Bendix took a playoff team and promptly turned it into a 100-loss team. While the White Sox had a top farm system, that was mostly graduated or gone by the time Getz took over. You seem to be comparing Bendix directly to Getz, which really has nothing to do with the 2019 farm system ranking, or TLR. While I'd agree that Bendix is the wonder boy du jour, he did take over a club with an ascendant farm system, and Getz took over a smoldering ruin.

  10. I think Kim Ng did a much better job building that organization than Hahn did with his.

  11. Both Antonacci and Meidroth are good 2b who can play ss in a pinch. The question with both is impact, not defense.

  12. I find it easy being a White Sox fan. I renew my season tickets every year and go to the games and just hope for the best.

  13. So how many Royals connections are there? Getz — I guess, although I thought the complaint about him was that he had the stink of White Sox on him. Assistant GM Josh Barfield — no Kansas City connection that I'm aware of. Assistant GM Jin Wong — long history in KC organization, although it doesn't appear he is all that involved in baseball decisions with the White Sox Senior Advisor to Pitching Brian Bannister — briefly pitched for the Royals, but post-playing career positions were only in Red Sox and Giants organizations I think Director of Hitting Ryan Fuller — only worked in Baltimore organization prior to the White Sox Director of Personnel Gene Watson — about 15 years working with the KC Royals with stints in a number of other organizations. I'm told he's the Rule 5 mastermind so take from that what you will Director of Acquisitions Matt Grabowski — 3 years with DBacks, 8 years with Braves Director of Player Development Paul Janish — hired from Rice University's staff (his MLB career didn't include Kansas City) Director of Amateur Scouting Mike Shirley — White Sox lifer Manager Will Venable — never played for KC, coaching and front office gigs with Cubs, Red Sox, Rangers Bench Coach Walker McKinven — only worked with Brewers before coming here AFAIK Hitting Coach Derek Shomon — past work with Twins and Marlins Pitching Coach Zach Bove — past work with Royals and Twins Assistant Hitting Coach Joel McKeithan — past work with Reds and Phillies Assistant Pitching Coach Matt Wise — past work with Angels Third Base Coach Justin Jirschele — White Sox lifer (but his dad coached with the Royals!!!) Hitting Coordinator Sherman Johnson — prior work with Baltimore I don't see a big infusion of Kansas City here, especially when you consider Bove had no overlap with those front office guys; says he didn't even know them.

  16. Those ultra long commutes will eat at you over time. I get the opportunity, but you are going to miss a lot of time at home, and that gets rough. Being older now, I have passed up chances to work in both Chicago and NYC for a lot more money, just because I don't want to move and/or commute anymore. Quality of life is important.
