  1. Just spit-balling the options. If Robert kills his TDL value, but rakes the last two months of the season, he may feel he's worth much more than 2/40.
  2. Weird, Google AI gave me the opposite answer. I appealed to the AI engine's ego by calling it a wise, handsome AI engine, so maybe it just gave me the answer I wanted.
  3. Yes they can. And if this really is what he is, and the QO tanks his value, they can resign him at a cheaper $10M, or whatnot.
  4. They could keep him, buy out his option, offer him a QA, and when he signs somewhere, the draft pick will probably be worth more than anything they get for him.
  5. Could just be me, but I would think a player would be happier making much more money in the bigs and accruing service time while holding down a spot on an up-and-coming team. I don't think baseball players have the same attitudes as keyboard warriors.
  6. Alcoholism is a disease. It's not as simple as "just don't drink", but I do understand.
  7. Sounds familiar. Santo shouldn't have had to promote himself. He was a top five 3B all time, pretty much, when he retired. When he was dying from diabetes, those guys could have gotten over their anger.
  8. Maybe MLB could tell the families of Dick Allen and Ron Santo what horrible crimes they committed to have been denied the honor of induction during their lifetimes. Dick Allen's treatment was horrible, but what happened to Santo seemed almost deliberate, as if guys like Joe Morgan and Mike Schmidt had a chip on their shoulders, and they were really going to stick it to Ron Santo. They did.

Then if you didn't really mean 1980, it's generally not helpful to answer the question with it.
  10. I thought a resurgent Brooks Baldwin could have made for an awkward choice when Slater comes off the IL. I'm not thinking that so much right now.

So then, to answer Tony's original question " At what point do you start to wonder if it's not about the people they are hiring, but the business might simply not really know what they're doing? " - I'm going to say certainly after the 1st house cleaning in 45 years. And I'm going to give the current regime longer than just under 2 years hitting the ground.

No bait. Really, when was the last "house-cleaning"? The David Wilder stuff? Maybe at the beginning or end of Larry Himes' run? Schueller begat Kenny, who begat Hahn. I know y'all want to say that Getz is a continuation of the old guard, but he's "cleaned house". It's not like they're changing the entire top tier every 5 years.
  13. Adler went to Birmingham.

Brent Morel was a guy I wanted to be more than he turned out to be. 3rd rounder.

You mean, like, the chairs and the rolodex are forcing bad decisions?

I thought all the big brains here have declared that fans will not buy tickets to watch any players short of a 9 figure signing. They even laugh at the notion.
  17. Yeah, "BWaaaahahaha, you posted on Twitter things about the White Sox" doesn't seem to be quite the sick burn as intended. You avoided posting nudes, or creeping on female journalists, so wins all around. LOL. That seemed kind of doxxy, but the real villains here are those who won't join in and mope over Chris Getz being employed.
  18. And he's on pace for 2 bWAR (average major leaguer), just on his defense, not counting the offensive changes he's made which seem to have given him a bit of a bump. Dude seems coachable and durable. And then, there's Jeral Perez who's a shortstop hitting HRs like Elko. What's not to like? But you seem to be deflecting from Hayes obviously saying he thought that IF the Twins were to do a deal with the White Sox, it might be for Keaschul. But nothing got close. He never reported that Keaschul was offered for Fedde. I understand if you're too embarrassed to admit to either getting it wrong, or wish-casting.
  19. "I think...if they wanted to do something like that, it would have been surrounding Luke Keaschul ... talks didn't advance at all." - Dan Hayes (starting at the 26 second mark) Yeah, I can see how you got that wrong. I mean, he totally said that HE THOUGHT THAT IF THEY WERE TO PURSUE A TRADE... Maybe you just didn't click your heels the right number of times when you wished it was true.
  20. No, actually, in spring training. You can't seem to get anything right. And nothing changed for the Sox with me. I predicted 54 wins, and still feel that. It's a rebuild, and I can accept that. I'm sorry that humiliates you.
  21. Am I supposed to respond to your fantasy that Keaschul was crying actual tears because of a trade rumor?
  22. I don't see an article. Oh, I get it. It's a pretend article.
  23. What argument? I'm just reminding you of the things you've said you wanted. I'm chilly-willy, dude. And if I was your grandpa, my son would have known better than to have raised a kid who trolls as poorly as you do.
  24. You misrepresented what he reported, dug in and argued that what Hayes actually said (his name "was mentioned"), meant that an actual trade offer was made and rejected by Getz, in the face of rational people explaining that most probably wasn't what happened. That's why you're silly to have pretended to believe it.
